That would be totally impractical if feasible at all. I think it's just a free re-relase of the Q3 client plus a nice website with ladder, tourneys, etc.

Im not saying I want graphics, I was just commenting on the game as someone said the graphics are way better than quake4. And im like "uh, no, the game looks identical to quake3, how do you mess that up?" Anyway the game downloads as a .msi file and is launched via the browser, and plays inside your browser window, and downloads all game content through the browser. I dont even know where the hell it's installing the files, would be kinda nice if they asked.

As for Warsow, too many noobs go running to DA as soon as the lose a duel. The duel community was quite active a year or two ago up until good game decided to show warsow on their shitty show which created an influx of noobs from source and cod4 to come and infiltrate the game and ruin it

i quit warsow cause of lack of support from the ausquake3 guys, servers went up and down and up and down (slash quit servers that is) i couldn't stand game arena servers or anything else, worst duel support ever.

i have my QW somewhere, would require fkloads of setting up :\

QW is not bad, certainly better than Q2 and Q4 in multiplayer, but as someone who's old enough to have played all the games I have to say that Q3 is better because it's more pure as a deathmatch game (less clutter) and movement/aiming is (or at least feels) much more precise than in QW.
For multiplayer, Q3 is the best Quake. And now maybe Quake Live, if they don't fuck it up somehow.

The lightning gun in QW for example always jumps around a bit, in Q3 it's very precise (unless there's high latency, of course, but at least the beam is always exactly where you point it to be).
And the QW rocket launcher is also a bit weird. In Q3, you can really do precision shots with it, e.g. on a particular spot on the ground, and you can be sure that the rocket will fly exactly to that point.

The rocket launcher is absolutely fine, people tend to get 60% accuracy on rocket launcher maps so i seriously don't know what you're basing your information from, I'm going to guess you've played the game once and felt you could adequately review it from that experience.

edit: perhaps you're talking about NetQuake and not QuakeWorld? because what you're saying sounds like complete hogwash.

Not sure really, I've only played it a bit on LANs when it was still rather new, I don't know about newer features in more modern QW clients, or anything, but anyway there are also lots of videos demonstrating what I mean.

The 1st minute is already enough - the lightning gun seems quite inaccurate. I do believe that good QW players have mastered the shaft enough so that they hit well with it anyway, but it still looks inaccurate.

that's because fakeshaft is not fully turned on, otherwise the shaft would hit directly in the center of the cross hair no matter how much drag it's put through. You're being deceived by the lightning itself, i don't play with the lightning on and i can vouch for my shaft directly hitting in the center of my crosshair, here's a tip for the future, play the games before criticizing them.

Here's an example of fakeshaft completely turned on, notice how rigid it is.

But yeah, it has slightly updated graphics. Browser based, free, paid by adverts. Some game play elements changed such as less rail damage, faster rockets etc.

I'm really looking forward to it, if anyone has a random invite for the beta, give me a buzz
