As for Warlock, I'm not bad with him (really, he has quite high damage and a nice animation, you can't suck with him), but he's not my type of hero at all ![]() ![]() PotM a very versatile hero, able to rice it up and do well or can play roaming style. From my experience, if she isn't banned she's top 3 pick. I don't know if it's because I dropped from the competitive scene or not, but I rarely ever see any Sylla's except for back in the CAL-M 6.2x days. I can see why though, ether people are unable to micro the two units or simply because Sylla has such terrible hp and no escape mech. For a carry there are many more favorable picks, SF/QoP/Mag/Viper/TB/SK just to name a few. Sylla isn't regarded as a tournament-tier level hero simply because he's really susceptible to ganks, weak against common dual-stun lanes (sven/Lina, Sven/Lesh, NA/Lina etc) and because he can't really do much in team fights except bring in a big bear and do some dps. The heroes I mentioned are all strong in lane or can help in team fights or gank very efficiently. Excluding TB/SK but SK has his saving grace as a bitch to kill with reincarnation and isn't that easy to kill early on, with a stun. TB is iffy, he's a jungler, the thing about TB is if you can efficiently micro you and your images than you will probably keep up or even go a little further than the duo lanes. With that said, so can Sylla, thing is if Sylla gets caught he's basically dead. TB has the chance of sundering and getting away or getting a kill depending on the situation, if they wanted to kill TB they'd have to stun, but would they want to waste the stun knowing Sunder will come by? So it's situational but TB can survive and maybe even kill, Sylla early on, can not. TB can also help allies with sundering them to swap hp. So if the carry in mid needs some hp or if someone in the lanes need hp you can sunder and then image + drain. Sylla can scare the opposition, I guess. Sylla mid-late game is okay, but I'd rather have a SF or QoP or Magna. Carry wise, there are better choices. Just what I think. Plus games nowadays are really team-gank oriented games and Sylla can't do much of that. Maybe back in the coL, Ezy days Sylla would've been a better pick for delay-carry type style of play, but back then there were Clinkz and Morph and heros like that that were much scarier with Aegis/Rapier or just plain scarier as a carry. Sylla was a fad in 6.2x (I think that was the version) and I think it'll stay that way. And just to reply to Ack1027, yes Sylla could be a beast late game if he wasn't ganked, but what Carry wouldn't be a beast? Yes entangle will be a bitch with IAS, but it's random. The thing about the bear is, Purge/Eul/Guinsoo/Stun it and it's gone for a long duration because non-hero are more susceptible to disable/stun spells. If you build a non-bear style, it wouldn't be able to keep up with the DPS carried out by like let's say, SF or QoP or I don't know, TB. This is if were talking about equal standing, but ether way SF/QoP should be able to farm more than Sylla and kill more early on as well. Transitioning into late game, Sylla is still a bit weaker than Lock/Magna IMO. Lock still has the huge AoE initiate, fatal bonds and a heal for the Carry, depending on how late you're talking about and style of play, there might be TWO huge AoE stuns. Magna wrecks games, if he catches a good polarity it can be over just like that. You're like stun locked for for like 5 seconds at least, some times even to like 8 seconds, considering people usually pick AoE stuns when they get Mag such as Tiny/Lina/Lesh/NA (not all together lol), but at least like 5 seconds. I'd feel much safer going into late game with a Mag than a Sylla, Mag can always turn it around. Well just my thoughts, sorry if it isn't the coherent or a little messy, just woke up and I had my breakfast in front of me during the whole time I was typing this. Maybe I just don't like Sylla or that I haven't seen any really imba Sylla's lately, or maybe he just sucks, it's all speculation and opinions until you're in the there defending your ancient. Btw there's a replay of our very own TL IH. Read the description. Also, not done very well, can show how to use site for your advantage for last hitting and keeping yourself in lane, I'm sure you can find me and other fellow TL members such as JF. This was after the my 4-5 month hiatus from DotA.

To answers Mynock's question, no. LOL While I'm here... "This is what happens when only one person buys wards, that person becomes epicly poor. Messed up here and there, but some were because I forgot I wasn't on vent and initiated for no reason. Shows the potential of Shift dodging. After a long hiatus from DotA and then coming back, I think I did okay, did what I was supposed to do." For the lazy.

Can fuck up Int heroes badly, gets progressively better late game (insane with a Butterfly and a Hyperstone), and his little HP can be comforted with a RoH or 2 RoRs early on. Yet he rarely gets picked and never banned, why? He's terrible in the lane and not strong enough late to be worth the encumbrance early. See: WG v TPD MYM PriDe 9

Not to mention the new Vanguard is better, too. Tho yeah, he's still way fragile in lane, but he's not the only one.

TPD is pretty much the only team that runs AM on a consistent basis. Hes fine against hard nuking line ups, throw a hood on him then just pretty much tank the rest of the way. Problem was that Fachh and the others made it too popular and people thought it was funny soloing AM versus Viper against non-nuke line ups. Oh, Sylla is a dead lane, the bear won't cover you against nukes or stuns. Ack1027 knows about that, and until you can consistently land both your bear hit and your hit at the same time, you really shouldn't play sylla in matches.

xdt vs emg, Magina and Akasha carry their team really nicely, even after a difficult start. The build for AM is Hood-Vang-Linkens-BFly (a good choice to have an AM in the game, because the opposing team has Lina and Leshrac, plus SK). It works. In the same game, silly bear gets heavily outclassed.

Anyway I have a question regarding QoP. In 6.49c map QoPs skill slow increases per level. At level 1 it is not that great. Should you still incorporate it in early on or get some stats instead and just a level 1 slow?

i'd rather get at least a couple points in slow than all stats because the slow allows your partners to do their shit. stats isn't going to make the kill happen, and bracers do what stats would anyway.

Mynock, the problem with AM is the same with any other carry hero in a lane. He needs a petter (Spriest, Lock, or Viper). And against dual stun lineups (today's most favored ones) it won't be enough (the usual Sven + Lina, etc.)
