Off the top of my head there's an I-no player (how appropriate, I guess) and an Order Sol player... can't think of a Jam Ino(ue) though. Oh man, my crazy dyslexia confused me. For some reason I thought that Jack Sparrow Jam was Ino -__- SBO '08Was great though, it was great watching Nanashi actually getting some wins in. His rush down Venom is so damn awesome to watch. I wanted to see a bit more Woshige though + Show Spoiler + and the OCV final game was disappointing. Wanted to see another N.o or Dogura game. Ahh well, this next SBO I'm gonna be trying to qualify for Tatsunoko SBO in Japan though, I'm gonna be studying abroad soon and hopefully I'll be able to level up against players over there. The Marvel scene up here gave Tatsunoko a try and only maybe a third of them feel like giving it any effort. I flew over to New York this Christmas break and played a couple games with JWong and Demon Hyo and I think if I got into the scene in Japan I'd maybe have a 2-5% chance of qualifying.

fuck yeah, I'm totally heading out there tomorrow to spend ridiculous amounts of cash-money on scrubbing people out with liberal usage of Blood Kain and Yami no Kuwarero

It may be more worth practicing than you realize ^^ Link.

It's like, I'm getting my ass handed for me for pretty much the entire match, and I'm thinking to myself "oh man I'm gonna lose this for sure", but somehow I get a few hits in and I win! ![]()

Then again a lot of new moves in BR seem kinda haphazard. Overall seems to be slightly less stupid in terms of damage, but more stupid in terms of character coherence; having a big set of generic customization options doesn't mean every character has to take a move from another character~ Still, we'll see. Don't get BR here for a few weeks anyhow, maybe I'll be like "omg Hwoarang stomp is the best move ever" after trying it out. Doubtful.

I dunno about the "well" part of the criteria, though. From what I read on TZ it's apparently crap ![]() So I played BlazBlue today, and learned a multitude of things! I will now impart to you my new-found knowledge. Learning stick execution on a new game when you've never invested serious time into it is retardedly expensive and a very stupid idea. When I arrived at the arcade, the BB machines were unoccupied. I was like "Sweet, time to embarrass myself in front of the six people watching the guy playing SF4 next to me". So I picked Ragna, colour 6.. ![]() and gave arcade mode a try. I spent two rounds against CPU Carl doing 214A, 214D and trying to remember combos (all that came to mind was 5B, 5C, 5D, 214A, 214D). Also, obligatory self-imposed rule of fighting characters with a puppet/summon: kill the summon. So I beat the shit out of Nirvana and then the little boy accompanying her and fought Noel. I beat her uneventfully (lots of INFERNO DIVAIDAH though) and then faced Tager. I very quickly discovered that the opposite of what Bill said is also extremely true. Tager has 13000). A Tager combo will commonly do upwards of 4k. You can probably see where this is going. Anyway, I didn't lose to Tager because someone happened to challenge me right then! He picked Noel and proceeded to pretty much roll me over, with me practising Gauntlet Hades/Hell's Fang/Inferno Divider movements in between the rolling. Every so often I got off a combo that was 6-12 hits but it was never enough to win the match. I took a break after losing six or seven times to grab a drink from Burger King and study the paper I'd written Ragna combos on the night before. I returned to the arcade remembering about an extra three combos. When I returned, there was nobody there again so I decided to have another go. I slip in my 2 dollars (extortion) and am instantly challenged by an Arakune player. Fuck. It actually came down REALLY close, I was pretty careful about dodging the unblockable cloud and getting my hits in where it counted (and where my hands let me). I took the first round with liberal usage of Blood-Kained 5D, Dash Cancel, 5D, DC, 5D, DC, etc. Shout out to 3MC for being a Blood Kain revolutionist. The second round didn't go as well, but it was close enough that I could tell the gap in skill between us was much smaller than the gap between the Noel player and I (or maybe Noel is just easier). The third round was pretty much a battle of epic proportions, two mythical beasts battling it out for supremacy. Only neither of us was very mythical. Or beastly. Or even supreme. So I guess it was nothing like that, really. The match was pretty hype and it all came down to whether my super was going to hit or not. Neither of us had visible life (I'd used Blood Kain earlier in the match and it drains your life at a steady pace), I was cursed by Arakune, and he was on the other side of the screen. This was a terrible situation to be in. I thought "What would Justin Wong do?" and I was struck by inspiration! I fullscreen supered only to have it blocked and was promptly 5A'd to death. Oh well, nobody could fault me for trying. After that some technicians came around and asked us to get off the machines so they could unlock Hakumen. As it turns out, the Arakune player was a dude from a New Zealand fighting game community site I sometimes go to. We talked for a little bit about how I had no stick, why learning execution at the arcade sucked, and this other dude who had just arrived. Apparently he had a sick Ragna and a pretty good Tager as well. The game had apparently been out for two months at this point so I figured it wasn't implausible that this guy was actually good at the game. The techs finally unlocked Hakumen and I sat back down to play. So did the aforementioned Ragna/Tager player. We both picked Hakumen to check it was working properly and I basically won using a lot of 214 motions and button pressing. Also ink-kicks. If you don't know what I'm referring to, Hakumen has these kicks that have that SF4 trailer effect where ink seems to follow every movement. I scrubbed him out after figuring out some terrible combo that did like 2500 damage because Hakumen does ridiculous damage. Then he picked Tager, and the lesson began. Bill's words hazily floated to the top of my mind as they rang true again and again. I never really got close to taking more than one round. Also: throw-breaking is a lot harder than it looks when you're actually playing the game instead of watching a video. I take pride in the fact I was able to throw him and activate Blood Kain in time to spam lots of 5D, though. Anyway, I basically got rolled and it wouldn't be very interesting to write about losing 7 matches in a row so I decided to go play 3S to practise my execution. I picked Ken and basically shoryu/hadoken/tatsu'd my way through CPU opponents. After that, I returned to the BlazBlue machine to find the Tager player was still there and beasting some Hakumen player. I decided I'd had enough for one day and returned home. Tangentially related note, crowded buses suck when you're 6'3".

![]() Did you get mercy rounds? I found those to be extremely helpful when I was first learning fighting games (namely 3s) and playing on an arcade stick. They're a great opportunity to practice your execution. lol @ Tager never being in a "losing" position as long as he has metre and charge. Honestly, I can't argue against that. ![]() Edit: waitwaitwait, $2 per match?! O_O
