Considering how much easier it is to wobble compared to Magneto's ROM infinite as well as how game affecting it is, I'd say it's pretty broken.

Also, has anyone checked out Ramza's tutorial for Urien? Always wanted to play Urien, but charge partitioning/buffering and all that stuff was always a turn off.

Personally, I think that any infinite is a bad thing, regardless of how difficult it is to pull off. It's just that in Marvel, I think there are so many infinites (up to the opponent getting stunned or whatever after enough hits) that no one really cares anymore: infinites are standard in that game, imo .

Since wobbling was apparently allowed by a coalition of top Melee players, and I rarely play SSBM at all, I'm guessing it's not such a bad thing in this game.

Scooter: it looks really cool to play Urien, but I agree with you that he's too hard to learn . So I'd suggest looking into other characters with (quasi-)unblockables, like Oro or Yang, if unblockables are one of the reasons you're intrigued by Urien (they are for me, at least).

New Gamers Vision 3s ranbats are out:
http://www.youtube.com/user/gamersvision (3 new vids)

Also, TheShend is uploading games from FFA's 3s team ranking battle from 1.5 weeks ago:
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=68F3D23C821093F2

The first 3 vids are okay. A notable moment was during ohayo1234 vs 5 Star, at 1:59 in "Part 1" .

for reference, it only took me 20 minutes to learn how to perfectly wobble in an actual match vs good players

all you do is grab, wait 20 frames or so, press a, hold down, then repeat pressing a at around 180 bpm (3 clicks per second)

AHF - Hafun (Love, Bolt KO) vs Hakama (Bolt KI), Kitamura (Plant LIE), Simi (Bolt LIL)

Excellent Konoha play by Hafun. Possibly the best Konoha player I have seen so far. One thing to notice is how he uses Konoha's teleport for mixups: his opponent has to guess which way to block, depending on whether Konoha reappears to the left or to the right of him.

I still doubt you're gona see legions of ice climbers now though. They have moved up in the tiers but tbh people have been 'wobbling' with them for like a year and they haven't been game breaking.
"Oh no, we've drawn Judge Schneider" "Is that bad?" "Well, he's had it in for me ever since I kinda ran over his dog" "You did?" "Yeah...if you replace the word *kinda* with *repeatedly*...and the word *dog* with son"

RISE FROM YOUR GRA~A~AVE!

AHF - Riki (Dark KI) vs Nao (Steel HE)

Riki (an ex-Q player from 3s, apparently) pulls out some crazy shit with Gier in this match. Combos I've never seen before and an insane, virtually inescapable 720 super setup in the 3rd round! It happens so fast that you never see it coming...

+ Show Spoiler [the match] +

The 720 setup is a really advanced technique. It utilizes game mechanics that I didn't even know existed until now!

First of all, Gier has a seldom-used, almost-useless move called "sticky-feet" that makes the opponent stick to the ground. E.g. they can't jump, and if you hit them upwards they'll be knocked down instead. They can still attack you, however. When the opponent gets hit by sticky-feet, they turn grey for the duration of the move.

Now, apparently sticky-feet has the surprising property that if the opponent gets ground-slammed into it, then they will immediately be standing up instead of being knocked down.

The other bit of magic that makes this setup work is a small "bug" (or feature ^^) that allows you to buffer a Gier move while Gier is doing his triple-shark-attack super. Normally, to delay a Gier move, you have to hold the D (homing/arcana) button down, which means you can't do any homing cancels. However, while Gier is still doing his super, you can do a second Gier move, then do whatever you want and as long as you return to holding the D button by the end of Gier's super, the second move won't come out. This allows Riki to do a homing cancel after using sticky-feet, since the homing cancel finishes before the Gier super, and Riki continues to hold D after the homing cancel to delay sticky-feet until he's about to slam his opponent to the ground.

Lastly, Kira's 720 super has an invincible start-up and has priority over everything else (that's not invincible). So the only way to escape this setup may be to use a move that has a longer invincibility period, or puts your character airborne in spite of the sticky-feet. Some characters have neither, so I think they may have to rely on e.g. the Fire Arcana's invincible explosion super, or an Arcana Burst.

By the way, this is also the first time I've seen a double-perfect in Arcana Heart :O.

There's no true infinite in marvel >_> Everyone gets dizzy after some point in time, only sometimes (In the case of snapback infinites or infinites with special moves like Shoto vs Sentinel) The opponent dizzies out at the point where he's dead already (Check it in training mode ^_^)

I personally have no grudges against infinites (Unless its because of stupid game programming hence making it overpowered like Gesses's absurdly easy one at SVC: Chaos..bleh @ that game) Since more often than not its the player's fault he got hit by the infinite.

XvsSF is another story since all characters there have infinites, its quite integral >_>

Apparently there's a video of the upcoming US version of Arcana Heart up at Kotaku. The author is new to the game, but his commentary is amusing, plus the translated version of the game looks very cool . I plan to pre-order it in the next few days.

JR Rodriguez came to UCLA yesterday. I have to say, I've never been perfected so many times in my life (even when I really sucked at the game). Many of the rounds turned into me fighting to not get perfected lol. I think out of the 10 or so games I played against him, I took 1 round (geneijin hax!) and got perfected about 8 times (I got demoned about 10 times also). It's amazing how he can get away with so many fierces. If you give him just a small opening, he will stun you in a matter of seconds and it's all over.

I would like to revive this thread's Super Turbo conversation.

A collection of insane combos, crossups, sweeps, throws, and other things that just shouldn't work but do, or are just insanely perfectly timed. NKI is a talented ST player and is well known in the ST community.
+ Show Spoiler [NKI Vol. 10] +

Edit: I guess a lot of these things aren't really impressive if you don't know a whole lot about ST's mechanics. For instance, the throw Zangief does on Fei Long as he's doing his reversal...doesn't seem possible given the timeframe that Gief would have to do the input for his Hurricane Throw. It's...impressive. I think he would only have about 3 frames to do it.

John Choi is probably my favorite ST player of all time. His innovative rushdown style with Ryu, who is considered a mid tier character, and his complete dominance with it, just...amazes me. He makes Ryu look like O.Sagat and his opponents look like they're playing with Dan or something.

EvoWest 2k7 ST Finals (John Choi vs Afrolegends).
+ Show Spoiler [EvoWest 2k7 ST Finals 1/2] +

+ Show Spoiler [EvoWest 2k7 ST Finals 2/2] +

I don't know. If I were to post all of the ST videos I find good, I'd be posting all day.

MvC2 is broken as hell. There is quite a long list of things wrong with it.

I dislike 3s because it just seems like a character's worth is based on how many times his super hits. Which is complete and utter bullshit. Then you have chars like Yun whose Supers allow them to do ridiculously long and damaging combos that are almost impossible to avoid in some situations.

I dunno. I just dislike most fighting games that aren't ST for one reason or another.

MvC2 isn't broken, its balanced enough to be played seriously and even the best player who abuses the best character is never guranteed over 90% chance win (*cough SVC CHAOS cough*)

That said, given the bunch of crazy stuff you do there, it actually contributes to the longevity of the game. There's always something new that comes up and gets incorporated into high level play.

As for 3s, I guess you could try playing with Yang/Makoto/Alex or something.. those people who just rely on EX's 90% of the time and super only when they really really need to =p

I dunno, it seems like Magneto/Storm are just OP. Magneto's infinite juggle is really abused all too often at high level play. Justin Wong is one of my favorite ST players...but I discovered him by watching 3S and MvC2 vids, and all he does in MvC2 is abuse Magneto terribly. Magneto/Storm/Cyclops. It just doesn't seem interesting or fun enough for me to even want to play since 99% of high level players use Magneto and his gay infinite juggle.

I could be wrong.

Sentinel is the best character, Storm just comes second, Mag 3rd and cable 4th.

Magneto's ROM infinite is his main source of damage (outside Hypergrav xx Tempest which CAN be mashed out) but it won't kill you outright unless he does a super or does a reset (cut the combo counter so damage is reset and not scaled.. all resets ARE escapable though) getting that one hit though is a pain.

Justin wong is the best because he's a really patient player. That's all.

MSCyke isn't even a top team, just a notch under that, Storm/Cyke is hella good but mag/cyke is just "ok" (still good though)

High level MvC2 is more than just ROM infinites really, Spacing and improvisation play a very very key role in the game as well as your team order/assist type etc.

I understand that MvC2 is more than infinites (spacing and improvisation are key in any fighting game), and I know the assist types are important when using....uh..."Supers?" I'm not sure what they're called. But using it with all 3 characters, yeah. Also using your assists to screw your opponent up is pretty key. I understand all that, but the infinites still really make me not even want to touch the game. I do play it casually with a friend of mine.

Ah well hahaha, lets just say you shouldn't be playing XvsSF (which may arguably have better balance considering every damn character can inf you to death without dizzy or any chance of retribution if they don't mess up) =p

not to mention every character has at least 2-3 infinites =p

Like I said, I don't play anything competitively except ST

Edit: Just because I only play ST competitively doesn't mean I don't know about other games. I'm well aware of XvSF and how it is. And I know enough about MvC2 to know that it's just not my kind of game. I've tried out other fighting games, I just don't tend to like them.

Oh my, what a gem of a video I just stumbled upon. Alex Valle has a claim to fame for inventing the Valle CC in SFA2, a very powerful technique that revolutionized the game. He is also very talented at most of Evo's events, just as John Choi is. John Choi also has a claim to fame in SFA2, where he invented the Choiversal as it is colloquially known. If anyone wants either of these concepts explained, I'd be happy to.

These are very top tier players duking it out in ST.

John Choi (Old Sagat) vs Alex Valle (Ryu)
+ Show Spoiler [John Choi vs Alex Valle] +

You can tell that when either player gets into a favorable situation, they exploit it to its full potential. Take game 2, round 2 for example. Valle finds himself in a situation in which he can rushdown Choi and exploits it beautifully. Very skillful playing here.

I hope someone else here is an ST fan :-/
