Since I started learning both of those, I can see a lot of similarities:
-turtle till you can't bear the shame -attack by defending -highly vulnerable -highly technical to play -you need walling
god, my Venom has so much trouble against Baiken. Mixing up block strings takes too much brain power for me.
haha i have problems too like all the normals of baiken are upper shit except j.S and j.D I can't get in at all Potemkin is ridiculous shit, i land 3 beautiful dust loops on him, and he kills me with 2 pot buster Johnny zones me like shit, and if i get inside range he starts spamming 2HS etc.
I have to figure out how to get in effective range other ways, I only do IAD tatami right now

How does everyone feel about HD Remix so far?
Been playing it nonstop since I got a ps3, but for whatever reason it feels like ST was much deeper. It's completely possible I just suck too much to appreciate the changes, but so far there's just been a ton of guessing that either wasn't as major in ST or people just didn't do on GGPO.
I only started playing ST recently though, so the potential for me to be completely wrong is pretty solid.

re: Baiken normals f.S, 2D, 6P
Also don't try to rush Potemkin down, just zone hardcore after you land a combo, can't get bustered if you're never close to him =p
re: HD Remix Opinion seems kinda split on that, actually. Generally considered pretty fun, but I haven't seen many ST players who are like "omg this is way better let's play this instead." More of a resignation that people are gonna play HDR 'cuz it's the new version. I personally like vanilla ST more =p

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Good. You know how pissed off I was gonna be if you were playing SF4 5 days before me? -_-
5 days is soooo long
Edit: I like SF remix but I'm just now breaking into the genre so I can't compare it to much.

Lemme get it up on rapidshare. Warning though, the meter stays infinite even when you're in a timer super (genei-jin/Seiei-enbu) so it's useless for learning genei-jin enders, or jab short strong genei-jin. edit: here it is, http://rapidshare.com/files/196876341/Street_Fighter_III_Training_Mode.exe.htmlgrab it before the dl's on it run out. To use it, put it in the same folder as emulator.exe for CPS3 and while the emulator is running, run training mode and press F1. It'll enable everything for player 1. Note you'll still have to hit start and select a character for player 2, just bind it to some random keys on your keyboard. Awesome Thank you very much. edit- I can't seem to get this to work. Does it only work with the japanese rom or something? It opens the emulator but doesn't do anything. When exactly am I supposed to press F1? I'm using this with the US version. Here's my handy dandy guide to getting it running since I'm lazy as shit when it comes to typing.
ok that guide was basically worthless. I already have it in the folder. I click it to load the emulator. When I do this it does not load the game. It just loads the emulator, So I must click the game out of the list of like 10 or whatever. Once I do that then do I press f1? When do I press F1??
On an unrelated note, I accidentally pressed f2 trying to get this to work and found that I can change it to free play and make it more difficult.
PS- when I press F1 it makes the coin inserted sound effect.

Hi all! I am going to start playing SF4 at an arcade near by just for fun. I am wondering what are the pros/cons of ryu or ken. I like those two guys the most so i'm just seeing which I should pick!

On a general level, ken is a dirtier version of ryu with weaker combos but compensates with a lot of tricky mixups. I'd love to go into specifics but I'm not 100% on much since there are no sf4 machines in my entire fucking state. :{{{{{{{{{
Hopefully someone who's not from a chocolate city can help you

Depends. Most scrubs play Ryu/Ken all day. If you encounter an above-average player while using them, prepare to get raped

Charlie its not that hard man, I dont see why you have a problem lolllll
@Metal[x]: Pick Ryu cause he likes Mets lolz. His ultra can hit from alot of stuff. like trading aa shoryu, or srk fadc w/e. Ken has some funky stuff too. Ryu is higher tier than Ken though. Doesn't mean Ken can't dish out dat shit. Oh noes you picked a shoto scrub obv
|
I don't think I will encounter any above average players in this little arcade. Probably a bunch of newbies just like me.
Saya, what are Mets?
|
lame joke on Ryu's ultra, since its Metsu Shinkuu Hadouken or whatever but japanese shorten some syllables so he says mets.
What's Ryu's favorite baseball team? Mets!

Is that the special where it takes forever for the screen to do the closeup on ryu and its just a big haduken? Doesn't everyone block it like a majority of the time? o_O
|
Well, I tried pressing F1 before i load it, after i load it, after I pick my guy , after i pick player 2 guy, after the match starts, when the hell do I press f1?
|

Yes to your first question, no to your second. Can't block something you combo into ^^
From the videos, ryu can combo into that ultra a lot of different easy ways. Most common is shoryuken -> focus attack dash cancel -> ultra.
lol @ mets.

Metal you sound like ur gonna feed alot of coins into that machine real talk
|
50 cents per game, ill spend max 2 dollars each visit...haha
what is focus attack, cancel, dash, etc? or how do you do them actually?
