Though Ive spent some hours messin with tons of other games so definitely down to play any SNK shit(LB2, KOF98/02, Garou) as well. I'd love to make it out to Preppys or Seattle gatherings in general but I dont know any players too well aside from saying hi down at gameworks or whatever. : ] Do you post on SRK in the PNW forum btw? I dunno if ive seen anyone with the ID scooter there. | ||

I'm starting to think CvS2 is one of those games you have to learn well before watching it becomes interesting and that I'm just nowhere near that point. The fact that CvS2 took GG's spot at evo left the game with an even more bitter taste  I'm surprised smash isn't on the evo lineup for 2k9. Was there too much bickering over the ruleset or something? I thought the game brought in tons of people (aka $$$), didn't expect it to get dropped any time soon. Also wondering how long ST can keep up its spot with 4 being so similar and so new / hyped. | ||

About Smash, it's the ruleset yes. EVO directors have a vision for Smash that is irreconcilable with that of the general Smash community. EVO wasn't going to change its philosophy over one game, and Smash community wasn't going to come to or take seriously a tournament ran with a distinctly different ruleset than what they usually have. Is SF4 really so similar to ST? Well, I'll find out soon enough. Except my stick isn't going to come in the mail for another week and a half grrr. edit: Oh yeah, people don't really consider CvS as versus series because it plays nothing much like them, huh. But what's the verdict on X-men:COTA and MSH? Don't people consider them as versus series even though they're not actually versus (crossover) games? So COTA, MSH, MvSF, XvSF, MvC1, MvC2. | ||

Inkblot(One of the Evo organizers) said in a podcast last week that they talked about Smash and despite its turnout decided that it was really a separate game/community and it needed its own venue. Im sure the fact that whatever the new Smash game is being considered not as good by a lot of that community and the fact that there are quite a few new real fighting games out this year factored in. | ||
