the timing after the IAD is super hard ~~ at least that combo works in #R, unlike in AC -_- lol let's tone down low tier Dizzy even more

lol it's possible i could just randomly go to this

Thats not the worst. We are not allowed to use our own controllers.
I smell pads. 360 pads. Bah.

I'm sure theyll have the options available (and if not the major stores will lolz)

It'll probably depend wholly on the manager of specific stores. I heard in the previous tournament (I think it was SSBB) there were some managers that allowed you to use controllers that you'd brought. The rules for it were fucked anyway, so whatever. They forced random character selection and some other miscellaneous shit.

after reading tehr ules its most likely 360 pads..... wth.... no ps3? at least they are playable pads..... no unlockable chars. which is understandable... single elimination bo5 games.....
well its free and the prizes in round 3 is nice.... i guess ill go for the hell of it....

I'm confident in my ability to play better on a 360 pad than most people I'd feel threatened by at an SF4 tourney =p
|
super smash for n64 haha that game is the bomb
|
should have practiced harder, dropped lots of combos and basic stuff (and got random accidental bursts that cost me games in BB).
But 2nd place in AH2, only losing sets to fubarduck's Clarice. Make that money??

the guy who normally records BB/AH2 matches (BIGGLES aka IkarugaDC) had the night shift at UFO so he didn't show for the tournament- so the only footage from the tourney that might go up is some SF4 stuff from like right after I got knocked out haha.
AH2 was kinda anti-hype, Pozer and I trained to wreck Houston (well, wreck them even harder than the last time they came up to UFO) then Houston AH2 didn't even show lolz

Congrats on getting 2nd, MCMcEmcee aka Crimson D aka Denjin Jeff.
Ontario (f not all of Canada) held its 2nd TvC tournament last Saturday, with 16 entrants total and 8 or 9 who had played the game against other humans before. Top 8 results:
TvC (16 Entrants) 1st - mtran66 (Karas / Casshern) - Waterloo 2nd - rae (Karas / Batsu) 3rd - Bill307 (Karas / Morrigan) - Waterloo 4th - DuranMana (Karas / Tekkaman) 5th - gerjay (Karas / Chun Li, Ryu / Batsu) 5th - wilson (Karas / Morrigan) - Waterloo 7th - psychochronic (Batsu / Doronjo, PTX-40A) 7th - Javid
(full event results: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=174437 )
I think this is the first time my city has represented well in any game. It's also my first time finishing "in the money" at a tournament (my prize = $7.50). It's all thanks to Mike [mtran66] getting the game on his Wii, getting PS2-to-Wii converters, playing the game a lot with us and letting Wilson and I borrow his setup to practice.
Now that it's over, I have to say I currently hate TvC. Karas is way too good in that game (at least right now). And how do you counterpick against Karas? You pick Karas yourself. As far as we can tell, all other characters are at a severe disadvantage against him.
Japanese and US players aside, even in the relatively-weak Canada, Mike has managed to work his Karas to the point where 1 corner hit = death for his opponent. Once he started doing an unblockable loop in the grand finals, he just steamrolled his opponent (who had earlier put him into losers). A demonstration of this loop:
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=xUemThY3GDg&feature=PlayList&p=50420C9F17657AB2#t=1m04
And it's downhill from here. The next step for Mike (and possibly myself) will probably be to learn a 100% combo for Karas, e.g.:
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=zzC15-as_1s#t=0m42
(Ironic that Ryu's theme plays during the 100% combo. )
Ultimately, I'd like to transition to a non-Karas team such as Chun Li / Morrigan, partly because Karas doesn't really have any mixups, just vicious blockstrings, and partly because I abhor Karas. But this will only work if (a) I can find ways to reliably escape from Karas's blockstrings, (b) she has a way to escape from the corner unblockable setup (probably air lightning legs...), and (c) I can learn Chun Li's corner infinite and learn how to use her in general and as an assist to Morrigan.

Examu needs to go die. Too bad nobody in Japan will have the balls to boycott it and SBO/Tougeki peeps are probably getting a good amount of money to make 2.6 the official game so that no arcade can even think of not giving in to this travesty. Examu needs to go die. We'd be better off without their POS proprietary hardware anyways.

Unfortunately for arcade owners, the patch will cost $1000 to upgrade from S!AH2 2.5 (the current latest version) to S!AH2 2.6. That is less than half the cost of just buying 2.6 from scratch, which is going to be $1700.
USD$1000 is probably less than lunch in yen.

Devs gotta eat, what can you say. I suppose a 2.6 machine really could generate a couple thousand more plays over the long run in some of the game centers than a 2.5 machine were 2.5 the last, but sure it sucks for us and everybody else forced to thus get strung along.
