Are you running any torrents? Torrents open a lot of connections and some routers will see it as a type of attack. I had this problem with one of my routers before and I had to change a preference setting somewhere to ignore it.
I don't know too much about router stuff but a lot of people swear by using http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index as replacement firmware for routers that is supposed to be more powerful and have more settings than proprietary firmware. Careful if you decide to try to use it though, you could brick your router.

I was wondering why so many people are bitching about post-nerf engi being sucky. I decided to test it out and he wasn't half that bad...
At least he requires some skill and decision making process, not like this op FA

On another note any of you guys have the same problem like... you're kinda decent with some heroes, but just terribad with others no matter how much you play them? Engi post above me got me thinking cause engi is one of those heroes. I never played him when he was OP though.

Yeah Elder parasite is worthless on anything other than Chronos, just don't buy it. Many will argue a case for Hammerstorm and Puppet but those are really really borderline/situational (whatever that situation may be I'm not quite sure). Seriously mostly it does more harm than good, people stubbornly get it on Predator and Dark Lady regardless of the fact that neither hero benefits from the damn thing at all and I have never ever seen them played even half-decently with it. Especially on Dark Lady it just destroys her potential, probably the only hero on which runed axe is just essential and it's so frustrating seeing people waste time farming fucking EP instead, only to do absolutely nothing until like minute 50...
On topic of worthless items, Abysmal Skull, holy fuck.
I think most people have that "can't play some heroes as well as others" thing, I can't really play behe or engineer even though I enjoy initiators.

When you're facing a magebane with EP it's hilarious. He blinks in, you cast a few normal nukes (ie not ultis) and he's dead within seconds. :D

I've recently lost a game because of such moron... First he went abysall skull and I was like WTF man?! I'm beast and I have it for at least 15 minutes now... So he changed it into EP... Was so painful to watch mb with 1.1k hp and EP charge 1v3
And the heroes I can't play no matter what: Glacius (I love his voice and everything but no matter what I do it ends in total suckage), Behe and Witch Slayer (I somehow didn't do well with Lion in DotA either, Slayer/Pyromancer is so much better for me).

Arma is fun. Just walk around and spineburst, all you really need to do with him. And SR ult isn't for KSing, it's for lategame str heroes or guys otherwise tough to kill (Accursed for instance).

Not torrenting, and its not automatic updates or some stupidity like that either. I've fixed the problem when it was those two things and I immediately close my torrents when i start HoN because of bad experiences in the past.
I'm going to try the vista anti-lag thing. Thanks for the help guys.

I just feel uncomfortable with them, like they don't suit my play style really. Glacius isn't too bad some games, and then in others I go 1-10 or something. I used to be awesome with ES in dota, but behemoth seems nerfed somehow, just slow and awkward. Its like his spells do half the damage they should. I dunno. Arma and Reaper I'm not bad with, I just don't like them.

is there a way to learn all characters fast as possible?
i mean i know every single character and what they do but for characters i'm not familiar with, i don't know what items to invest in (recommended not always right) and skill builds

I'm actually in the middle of trying that right now. I'm playing every hero in order until I win with positive KDR. I've been doing it for the past week or so and I'm a little less than halfway through... Ophelia is my next hero and I'm kinda dreading it, lol. What I've been doing is looking up replays of "pro" players playing these heroes, then applying what I see to my games. I've learned that I'm actually really bad with a few heroes I was confident with. I've also learned that I'm not too shabby with agi carries.
To report on the disasters (sway-'s question): Andromeda took me 4 games to win with positive KDR-- kindof expected considering how she initiates, but still, that's a lotta games. Engineer also took 4 games, but I was never very good with him. Swiftblade took 5 games, which kinda shocked me since I can farm and that usually = win when you're a carry (most agi carries took me 1 game). Sandwraith took me 6 (!!!) games, and I'm not even sure why I was doing poorly with him. I'd like to blame pub "babysitters" but if I can't dominate a pub with SW, no matter how bad my teammates are, I gotta be doing something wrong.
Anywho... ophelia's next up. Any tips? I watched a Chu ophelia replay and he goes courier, wards, flying courier, plated greaves, puzzlebox, astroblade. Seems reasonable.

Any Chen/Ophelia that doesn't get Aghanims/Staff of the Master is absolutely TERRIBLE. 30 motherfucking ultimate cooldown. If that doesn't scream GET THIS ITEM NOW I don't know what does.
