It's interesting to see how people build different heroes. I've noticed heroes like QoP, sand king, lesh, and a couple others are almost always picked. A couple questions, though: Why is it that in every game I watch, someone picks PotM? And why, in every game, do they always do two bands/bottle/boots, and then sell a band and buy a pt. booster and a hammer? And why do they always go mael/mjoll into skadi? Is it that starfall combined with mael/mjoll is just super farm/push/push stop? ![]() I really don't get why you'd sell a band to buy a pt. booster, even if you're eventually going to go skadi. It's one thing when you sell a L1 item to buy a second or third L4 item, but selling a L1 item 12 minutes into the game to buy a pt. booster seems kind of wasteful. PotM has a free blink with leap, has a targeted stun, has a nuke, has a great setup ulti. And can do DPS later on. Her and QoP are banned most of the time because of their free blink skills. As for items, without watching the games I can't really tell you what and why.

[Analytical rpf rant]I was rambling about this last night, but I'm having trouble knowing when and why I should upgrade my circlets to whatever items. For example, say I'm playing razor. Do I want 2 bracers for the HP? Or do I want 2 bands for the dmg/IAS? Or do I want a third band? Or say I'm necrolyte. Do I want 2 bracers? Or 2 nulls? Or 3? I just have trouble deciding what to upgrade my circlets to. I often see heroes go with 3 of whatever their main stat is, which obviously is good for last hitting, and seems to be a nice compromise between their main stat and HP, as 3 nulls/bands is the same str gain as 1.5 bracers. And when do you decide to grab a third circlet? If it's just preference, then okay. We all have our own playstyles. I just don't know when I'm watching a replay if their item choice is their own preference or if it's more of a strategical thing. [/Analytical rpf rant]

In almost every one of those replays, there was a PotM. They always went 2 bands/boots/bottle/tp scroll into travels/pt. booster into mael/mjoll/skadi. Theres no clear answer to this, but be happy in the fact that you will be eventually experienced enough to make the more correct choice. It really does just depends on a lot of factors.

I really hate to admit this, but I'm often too impatient to wait to learn things through experience. My mind is far too structured and orderly for me to just accept "it depends" as an answer. But that's what I get for having such an analytical nature.

reason why potms so good was already explained by judicator. if you keep playing, you'll realize that health (and mana for certain heroes) goes a long way to get your through early-mid game instead of rushing for that fast dps item etc
