Can anyone explain to me why the CD on home stones are 100 seconds? (and cost mana, 135 gold, and can be stunned out of ). Like why cant the cooldown be 10-30 seconds, it doesn't really make sense to me to have such hefty cost/drawbacks. Plus you gotta hit shop up to pick up more. It's not like it would be cheap if it was shorter CD. And how big is the CD on tele boots and they don't cost mana do they?

I guess the long cooldown is to prevent mass teleporting from lane to lane. I haven't watched pro hon games but in dota teams always have a tp scroll on them going from lane to lane ganking and pushing alot.

if you couldnt get stunned out of it, you know how easy it would be to survive ganks? lol. you could pretty much survive anything in 3 seconds with the right moves

all they need to do is not show the exact spot that heroes are tp'ing into cus it's way too easy to just setup your spells for the guy tp'ing in, it's so retarded.
charlie you're not experienced in higher skill games so you may not realize how incredibly powerful TPs already are, those cooldowns/manacost/weaknesses are all necessary, except the one i just mentioned. not to mention that in many high lvl games people will often carry 2 TPs (if their hero makes sense for it, something like pharaoh, but not carries) stacked so rebuying isnt necessary after one's used. and you can buy them at the outposts anyway

I understand all the drawbacks except for the cooldown use. It just seems way too long. And even more excessive because of the fact that it already has all those drawbacks.

Ok guys, let me interrupt the discussion a bit.
My friend has asked me for help since it appears that at the fantasy convention in my city there will be a 3v3 DotA tournament tomorrow. I have no idea about the competition level (but I doubt there will be many/any people who even played dota before). My team consists of me, Wawer (he used to be very good at WC3 but with little DotA experience) and one more guy whose only experience with DotA is AI maps and he thinks that battlefury is the best item ever on every hero (and 2 battlefuries are even better). What I need help with (I'm not even sure what mode will be played there but I'm trying to be optimistic and think -ap or -tp) is noob-bashing team setup with 2 heroes that would be fairly easy to use.
I was thinking about SF for myself, Lich for one and can't quite think about 3rd hero that would fit into this. Preferably ranged with AoE or stun (venge?) or some kind of easy tank (leviathan?).
What would you suggest for this 2 modes? (so I need sent only/scourge only/mixed team setup)

Dude... Have you any idea how many times I wished the cooldown on TPs would be less? Or if they costed less mana?
Just think what do you use it for: - pushing -> defending - ganking - saving yourself - denying towers - generally moving fast around the map
They're still too cheap as they're one of the best items you can get.

Bane is pretty much a must have for 3v3. Sleep 1, grip 1, enfeeble carry.
