You can argue the HoN ddos'ers were worse cuz they had signatures on their attacks which led to their arrest. If you are creating a game where one of your main selling points is stats and mmr points, its kinda short-sighted to think you aren't gonna get ddos'd sooner or later down the line. Ok even if their server structure doesn't make it easier [ which is hard to believe even with a basic understanding of network security ] that still makes them worse at handling it because DC's owner let people know hours after the attack happened. Yes, it's terrible management on their part but I never said it wasn't. The valid point you bring up is that DC isn't a company while S2 is a company and so S2 really shouldn't be having these problems which I agree with, but I don't think the comparison with DC fixing its DDoS problems is reasonable because there are numerous things a DDoSer can try to abuse. You don't even know what part of S2 servers are getting hit by, and how large or what sort of attacks these are other than that it's a lot of traffic being requested while having low sophistication. The DC network is tiny compared to HoN's network so it would be relatively easier to clean up if DC was still able to have some sort of functionality when it was being DDoSed since it indicates that the attacks were smaller than the ones HoN's been having. You can' pretty much guess that from the amount of players HoN handles (tens of thousands) and the amount of players DC handles (hundreds). Also S2 is a company and have some clout unlike a handful of people with not enough money so they can actually get the police to go after somebody in another country. Also, you mentioned FEATURES (not server structure) that made DDoSing easier, and really some of these features mentioned (reconnection, less chance of maphack) don't even have anything to do with significant load other than stats which could possibly be better or worse. | ||

stats seem to record though as mmr is functionally normally. in this case s2 can easily reward us the coins we didn't get. | ||

Yeah, the spirits attack what you attack. Once the ultimate ends, the spirits fly back to you and heal. It's an incredible ultimate for pushing and in team fights, but it gets used very wrong. It's awful to blow defensively (when retreating I mean), it does far less than a Wave if you're blowing it as a last hoorah. Even if you're not in range, the spirits will still follow who you're attacking, so you can use that to great effect with good control. | ||
