the only reason phoenix is slightly annoying is because of his above average stat gain since ranged + strength is inherently imba (not named huskar), other than that his abilities are decent dive has a really long cooldown, its good but yeah really long cooldown (longer than skewer at 40) fire spirits are ultra meh, firing off all your spirits rapidly is annoying sun ray is good but has to be wisely used against good teams (against baddies ez pickings), and it cant be spammed multiple times supernovas very situational but used correctly its like a ravage with more stun and a lot less damage, the thing is you cant even use the terrain (besides trees maybe) to help you since everybody knows its happening
its nowhere near as stupid as old tuskar, tc, clock, batrider, and old spectre (both dispersions) if you're too stupid to escape sun ray figure it like this: its like being chased by a viper
Phoenix isn't that bad, but he does have a horrible tendency to punish underleveled teams severely, its a huge uphill climb if you get ahead with Phoenix on your team.
I just didn't see why he thought he was super imba. I can't really see Phoenix killing anyone on his own, tp scrolls just make everything ezpz. He is kinda annoying in a trilane though, ray into dive with two stunners like Lion/Sven/VS is blah.
The cute thing about dive/supernova is during team fights in the river if it happens. Dive into the cliff ward spot and supernova/ray.

long stuns beat sun ray initiations, but thats assuming if you can get them off. i think sun rays range should be nerfed slightly but thats my only complaint.

Nothing is ever going to be worse than spectre ok? When spectre was Avatar of Vengeance her passive made it so you took damage any time there was a last hit regardless of who did it.
You took unavoidable damage any time spectre got a last hit or you tried to deny. Disperse lasted a ton longer and was easy to go through any terrain.
Edit #2: Her passive was the only skill in the history of dota that would punish you for last hitting and playing fundamentally right. If you play correctly, you lost. If you played back, you still lost because her 2nd skill was a global fuck you asdlf;kajsdlkfje
