Capitalism begs to disagree too. Along with the Industrial Revolution

Sniper is coming to hon!
Flint Beastwood is the latest Agility hero to join the Hellbourne team. Described as a “bad-tempered, dual wielding gunslinger”, Flint excels at pushing towers, providing sight for his team, and is able to engage enemies at a longer range than any other hero in the game. If there’s something more terrifying than dual-wield long-range boomsticks, I haven’t heard of it.
Let’s take a look at this orc gunner’s skills (disclaimer: ability names are not final):
* Flare: Fire a flare at a position, dealing damage and leaving a slow-burning glow that slows enemies and provides sight. * Sharpshooter: Passively deal extra damage and a mini-stun on occasion. * Long Barrel: Passively increases attack range. * Focused Fire: After taking time to line a shot, Flint fires at a faraway enemy, dealing critical damage.

wtf sniper is a rubbish hero why would they port that
|
are you joking? sniper is definitely far from a "rubbish" hero.

Sniper IS pretty trash in dota. He's a pubstomp hero. Who knows what he'll be in hon, though. There are fewer 600 range heroes and the shitty pathing makes ults easier to get.

The pathing is shittier in hon than in dota? What?

sniper is definitely not trash. he was when he had scattershot, but ever since shrapnel was changed he has seen lots of competitive play and is still used on some occasions by lots of chinese teams.

Long barrel sounds like an op babysitter yo.

Here's Sniper's history in DotA, don't speak if you don't play more than pubs and seemingly can't make correct observations:
1. Pointless ranged hero, Headshot didn't work on your own creeps and Assassinate was on a long CD (think Lina/Lion lengths).
2. Buffed Assassinate to be super quick, Guinsoo Sniper is born, and people were getting Assassinated by Robin Hood role players. Also he was used as a carry by some Sentinel line ups as an Aegis-Divine user to match up against Clinkz, so he sees/saw a pretty good amount of play here. That is until people realized Luna's Eclipse + Refresher = 10k damage and Glaives were broken.
3. Nerfed Assassinate, buffed Headshot to work on your own creeps, still pretty good, but no where as #2.
4. Buffed Scattershot to give True Sight, dumb idea as the spell is still useless as a nuke and broken as a ward killer, too bad this was during the time where wards were heavily marginalized.
5. Removed Scattershot to add Shrapnel, pretty good slow created and it works on towers. Teams started to use him when gank line ups became unpopular so he became a pretty safe pick, namely US teams and during some IDEC games.
So he's pretty average, and short of the broken Guinsoo Sniper period, he's one of the few heroes that underwent changes that didn't go to one extreme or the other while under Icefrog's watch.
No idea where you are getting the pathing shit from, I typically don't notice in DotA/HoN since I always click in small distances, but I remember using the minimap for HoN and actually having my hero take the not-into-4-heroes path.

How was he used? Not sure how his skills work mechanically, but he seems like he would be a strong babysitter being able to harass from out of range. Not sure what role he plays in midgame tho.

let's see. an agility hero with a skill that gives him +damage and ministun, extra range, a slow and a huge damage ult.
what could he possibly do... hmm

TBH scatter shot was niche in if you were running a strong push line up it could work, but so many other heroes did that job better. At level 3-4 scatter shot would kill entire waves instantly, so it wasn't something to scoff at, but his range/head shot were just better over all since he had low hp anyway so being close was not good.
I really like sniper in line ups that can protect him well (sven/sand are strong picks imho due to aoe stuns to keep sniper covered) while he just dishes out tons of damage once he has any decent farm. Maybe that was because i always went lightning stick because i liked 800 range lightning bolts, but i found that once mid game hit sniper could just obliterate heroes so fast with his team backing him up.
edit: poke he was a carry, in his Shrapnel days he was usually used in easy lane solo with a decent mid lane + a roamer. Worked effectively because his slow really works out for ganking his lane because its aoe is a nice size.
