What I've gathered is that about 95% of TL's HoN community is completely capable of holding a constructive, on-topic conversation about the game and strategies and then we have 5% (maybe a little less now) shitposting retards who can't.

That's actually a pretty good ratio now that I think about it.

I agree with you H but the shit posting 5% of this thread actually know more about the game than the other 95% of us they just choose to use this as their battle.net chat room XD. At least he went out with a bang /shrug

So trilaning in HoN isn't that widespread, is it?

Recently our team's been trying to keep updated with the recent trend of dota (read: chinese dota). Although it's not necessarily good to copy the top teams, they sort of write the textbooks for teams below them so why not? Whenever we trilane, it's standard 1 strong solo mid hero (sf, lion, wr etc.) and 2 stuns with another carry on the trilane side and 1 hero sent to the shithole (ds, brood, enigma, havent figure many out yet).

But playing with foreign teams, they seem to have a much deeper understanding of this stuff. I asked roy from aeon what you're supposed to look at to decide when trilaning is going to be in your favor and all he said is: you just stack the safe side (sent bot, scourge top). But when I see Chinese replays, trilanes always end up vs'ing each other so it can't be a cointoss. I used to think the trilane that has a bigger reward when it gets complete lane domination has the luxury of taking the safe side but it hasn't always turned out that way.

We have a tendency to always stack trilanes with an aggresive carry but that too doesn't always seem to be the case. I've seen wd/rhasta/cm lanes while leaving alche to solo mid instead rhasta.

Even I hardly see Lion solo in Chinese replays anymore. WD/Rhasta/CM is theoretically a push lane... Usually Chinese have a good guess as to what is going to be trilane and what isn't, I've always wondered why and wondering if it's just good pick sense, but when looking over the end picks you can see when there's a good chance of trilane, it just depends what they're going to put into it.
There was one game with DK and they picked AM to counter Dusa but Nirvana.cn just trilaned bottom with a THD, CM, WD (going heavy voodoo) and the game was just one sided, AM didn't get any farm until he was out of the lane and those 3 guys + YaphetS too busy running around destroying and pushing everything while Zhou stacked farm with Dusa.

Is AM only a counter to dusa because he can kill her mana shield really fast?
Her mana pool is only 1000 and AM can't really get huge damage with his ult on dusa

AM is an alright counter to dusa but he puts a strain on your team for obvious reasons. Slow farming, needs babysit, no AOE and terrible at pushes. AM has good tanking, especially after a smooth start, very good DPS late game so he isn't only picked vs dusa lineups either.

Hero specific counter picks aren't very common in high lvls just like you often make a well balanced army in BW rather than adjust your army composition ratio specifically to what your opponent has. This is the problem a lot of 'bad' teams suffer from. They want an easy way out: out-pick by being able to naturally have the upperhand.

AM is godawful counter to Medusa in practice. Trying to outfarm Split Shot and team fight against Gaze as AM is near impossible unless you got some super support in which case you didn't need the AM in the first place.

And Heen's right about picks at high levels, got a problem hero? Ban it. If you need more than 4 bans, you aren't high skill :D

I find AM to be alright. Of course, I assume his potential goes way down the stronger the opponents you're facing but AM is a respectable carry overall. I pick him once a while when the other team doesn't have enough disables that hurt him so much. Isn't he one of those heroes that are picked rarely but have a high win ratio because there's a tendency for people to use them when they can truly shine? Not that I take DotA statistics seriously o_o

Funny thing with medusa is I have a hard time farming with her for some reason. It's rare for me to get GFG items @ a certain time mark even if we're rolling our opponents. I think it's because I don't auto attack with splitshot enough Whatever, I rarely pick her anyway and our team's more comfortable with more evenly split farm than 4 people tagging along with 1 carry.

I'm waiting for my laundry and have nothing better to do so I'll list some heroes that I've been meaning to experiment with, in no particular order.

Chieftain: Build him as a semi-carry and fuck up their formation and pick off the weaklings.

Furion: Fun hero overall. Basically prioritize map control, and fuck the other lanes early on.

Leoric: Even with the recent buffs, he's still barely ever picked but I wanna give this guy a try :p Probably take him with a push lineup and feed him some towers asap.

Veno: Actually this guy's been getting popular recently but I find him so fucking helpless as time goes by. He has one of the worst ults in the game and has less presence than crystal maiden.

Random list of heroes that I think are too shitty/need a remake because they're boring or/and shitty:

Pudge
Omni
Huskar: wtf is this guy supposed to do.
Treant: my most hated hero of all time I think
Spiritbreaker: bad.
Troll: guarantees a low quality game
Seeker: fix his cast animation
Soul keeper: terribad
Leshrac: I can't imagine a single game where he would be the perfect pick. He's fragile as fuck and has shit cast animation on top of it. Rework his ult maybe.
Warlock: boring

All of my friends tell me to play HoN but I have refused out of hatred for anything DoTA up to this point. Is there a decent equivalent of Juggernaut from DoTA in HoN?

Yep, Swiftblade.

He doesn't have healing ward though, but a counter attack ability instead.

I'd day 80% of HoN heroes are DotA ports.

Huskar annoys me to no end, his listed MS is higher than actual, he needs BKB, Linkens and whatever else to cover him while he doesn't stun or disable. Only worth something if he's in nuke-to-death HP range.

Pudge is fine...just the game more than the hero. Same with Omni, BS is about as niche as AM, that silence goes through everything. TB is fine considering he has stupidly good stat growth too, just no reason to use him over Morph or Medusa. That's the problem, those two heroes needs to be tweaked. Medusa especially.

I always wanted to try a Void-based line up with him going Scepter first.

I like Veno but the no. 1 reason he's shitty is SPLIT IMAGE and BKB, he can be played as gank and push but his poison concept needs to be changed in the future.
Leoric is too singular I think and his stun is not excellent, he can only be played in push lineups but his early push power is weak :/. I think his stun is just too subpar and vamp aura doesn't really help at all.
TC is one of my favorite heroes but I think it's hard to manage him because his disable has to channel, and he is in the same boat as Kunkka for survivability.
I liked Leshrac a long time ago but the metagame has just left him.

Veno's wards needs to be re-worked, it's the weirdest shit ever, and maybe extend his range, because that shit is a trade at best in lanes right now with his 295 ms base. Never mind split image or bkb, a fucking tp rapes him so hard.

SkelKing is fine imo, his stun is short and effective; I think its because his item progression isn't that good and the AGIs and Ints have better effective ceilings as a result. Armlet is trashy for it's tier, like there's nothing to build on that Armlet efficiently (like a Manta equivalent or a Guinsoo).

TC needs to be played as a semi-carry, think too many people still remember his bullshit version and try to play him as much, but to me he's a melee STR version of SF and needs to be played/picked as much.
