Apparently you start out in the first round and play against other first-rounders, and when you win you get GP (similar to BP) and CP (which is based off your opponent's GP). Then you get matched against other semifinal people and the same thing happens, then the final round and the same thing again. The CP gets reset with each new tournament, and the players with the highest CP get their replays autosaved for people to download.
EDIT: More: So I guess GP is just for matchmaking purposes in the tournament and some people are saying GP only increases and never decreases, so there's probably some degree of mudflation, but statistically speaking, the higher level players will have higher CP because they'll be gaining GP at a higher rate.
I went to Denjin today for like 3 hrs, got a good 1 hr session against Dae, I beat him twice out of like 25-30 games -.-z. I really got the hang of the matchup towards the end of the night. If anyone needs some Sagat vs Chun help, I can provide =P.
Some good videos came from Slasher this past weekend at the WCG Fighter Club tournament. I myself went 0-5 in my group (those guys are sick, and I was pretty unprepared). His videos are from the Round of 32 onwards.
So I'm just going to say that the new Championship battle system is fucking amazing. I don't know why it works exactly, but the instant you enter G2 the skill level skyrockets. Not a single flowchart masher to be found.
That's not to say it's like playing in a SoCal arcade, but for online it's amazing.
I just got into G2, and I'm still clearing most the opponents without much trouble, but they're all decent, thinking players. I can't even get that live unless we set up a "no scrubs" tv
Also, I'm sorry sung_moon if you're not a fan of the mirror, but Rog is too damn fun I was about to give him up when I got perfected by a fuerte, but in the 2nd round I realized dashing straights got me out of at least the basic knockdown bullshit he does and my love of the Rog doubled.
There's also the chance I got a string of good luck in the middle of the night, but I want to believe dammit~

I don't think so without some other equipment. If someone found a way to do it with just a ps3, it'd be cool as hell though. Especially if it worked for 360 also. I've got a hunch that 3mc knows a lot that he could show us in matches
wow i thought dsp was supposed to be really good? dsp's rufus is almost as bad as that ken. there are so many times where he could have punished him by doing actual damage but he just fucking like sweeps him when he has a free combo o_O?
y would he upload that? hgaha i love him tho, @ the end of 1st round: "WAAAAAAAAAAAT?" edit: dude, does he just sit there in his house and record himself playing video games all day? w t f
i am not very good, but it somehow gets under my skin very easily that a ken ( and more recently sagat) can spam fierce dragon punch or ex dragon punch at obvious junctures and win.
it really ticks me off, don't these half-wits realize that if that's all they do they will never improve? don't they realize that although I cannot punish every whiff by raping at least 1/3 of their bar, there are a lot of individuals who can? and it is only a matter of time before they reach those people?

/rant
i still play akuma ^ ^ Ether_one psn tag
If you can't punish it, then it doesn't matter at all that other players can. Hell, even I'd spam shoryus against you if I'd find out you can't do much against it.
Learn to bait it.
It takes a bit more skill to bait than to spam it, but on high level you 'll be grateful for the huge free damage you can get by baiting these attacks.
Ya if you're too shit to block there's not much of a reason to mixup. Sometimes it's the safest to just spam spike instead of eating your shitty special move spam when trying to combo in with normals or snake a throw =\
the problem is capcoms decision to make shoryuken's in SF4 easier than it ever has been IMO. this is frutrating for new players who are talented and play diligently but still get raped by clowns who spam shoryukens because you really don't even have to do the input accurately at all.
This sucks because I get more enjoyment from raping shotos with zangief (who is not fun to play) than actually trying to learn other characters because it is so painful to lose against these talentless cheesy cunts

Agreed, I've lost to players who only spam shoryuken, but I've learned to bait and some simple but effective combos to punish. Still learning though, but definitely this shouldn't be a reason to lose to them repeadtly.
