Any talented player who's new to SF4 can play against a shoryu-spammer and say, "Hey this guy just uppercuts all the time: imma just block all day and hit him after each blocked uppercut." He wouldn't even have to do any combos.
I know it's not easy to block all the time when that's not how you normally play, 'cause your habits tell you to do otherwise, but if you can't then it's 100% your fault for not being talented enough, not the spammer's fault for doing what works.
PS: I have personally beaten people in SF3:3s and in SF4 with nothing but uppercuts. It's a perfectly-valid strategy against people who lose to it.
No its actually pretty stupid how you can be doing a combo or block string and drop part of it because the timing is so difficult on links, especially online and have them dp you. The adjustment you really need to make vs people you havent seen play is that you can't do unsafe block strings in this game is at the beginning of a match(Or whenever you are playing vs a character with a DP and 2 bars of meter). So just do like lp lp/lk lk and back off instead of pushing a big block string through and watch them whiff a dp and then punish with whatever you got.
people say a lot of stuff about SF4 and it always sounds to me like they aren't playing the same game I am... getting hit by random shoryus? why are you randomly not blocking?
Really my only complaint with SF4 is the netcode is FUCKING WORTHLESS. I wish there was a way to get ST on GGPO or HD Remix quality netcode going. I understand a lot of the technical restrictions but they still could've done a better job than they did.

of course it is, and it is also despicable. ^ ^
i know it is my fault for not being adaptable enough yet, but it still frustrates me.
And i still think this game is extremely well balanced

Then drop it on purpose, block their DP, and punish. Simple. =P
here's the trick: push them out of shoryu range with links and then punish because they put in the shoryu while they were in range but the game is "easy" and it buffers the shoryu for that fucking long.
you can use the "easiness" of the engine against people all the time in this game you just have to know how.
i learnt to punish those shoryuken furies btw i'm building a community website for frenches mainly, if there's any here go check http://www.sf4france.com
It's especially funny 'cause I see it happen even among good players, and I do it sometimes if I'm SO sure it's going to work that I don't even look at where the other guy is standing.
hey i play a few vegas this morning do they always get a free grab on rufus after his jumpdown kick (u kno his lil downkick special, dunno name) or am i just too noob and my link is too slow
Probably if you divekick high you're not getting a long enough hitstun and your followup link gets beat by a throw. Try thowing after the kick or delaying the kick so your closer to the ground before you do it (hit later, land faster with more hitstun).

Depends on how high your divekick hits them and whether it was hit or blocked.
E.g. if they block a divekick at head or shoulder level, then they can throw you when you land, unless you jump, tech the throw, or do EX Messiah Kick.
E.g. iirc you can link a divekick hit into a close HP if you hit them at their feet.
I'm not sure where the line is between when it is and is not safe to follow-up a divekick with a s.LP / c.LP . You'll have to test that for yourself. In any case, the general rule with divekicks is, try to hit them as low as possible.
Edit: another tip: if someone throws you after a divekick, then piss them off by doing divekick -> divekick or divekick -> EX Messiah Kick, both of which will beat their throw. Then next time, do divekick -> throw, hoping they are now afraid of trying to throw you. And so on.
