The damage scaling is pretty harsh in this game. I kinda liked the idea of scaling it per move instead of per hit, but I think they went too far with it. Focus stuns scale even worse. As far as I know, if you start a combo with a focus stun, the next hit will deal 80% of its natural damage and then scale normally. That's why many of those combos are really weak.

Well, I work at the Sunnyvale Fry's Electronics and they have a TON of 360 and PS3 madcatz in stock for $69.99 and I managed to buy a PS3 one. Not to mention I used my employee discount and it was only $56. 92 (saved $17.89) ^_^ I'm not sure about the other Fry's store, but I can check and I will post back once I'm out of work. Unfortunately, you're missing one detail. The sticks that are in demand are the Tournament Edition (TE) sticks. The kind you saw are the Standard Edition (SE) sticks, which are crap and no one who's informed would want one. I suggest returning it asap and getting a full refund if you can.

It'll cost about the same, and the HRAP will be much larger and heavier. If he wants a cheap stick, well none of them are very good, but the cheap $50 Hori fighting sticks are definitely a level above the shitty Madcatz SE sticks.

i mean, for someone who wants to give some good competition online, but not hardcore enough to by a $100+ stick.

I got a HRAP but it's too big and heavy for me, so I play with a noname stick modded with Sanwa parts now. It's all depending on preference.

I knew the tournament edition was the rarest, but I read that the standard edition was a little rarer and better than the Hori. Interesting...

It's just that there's very little reward for perfecting execution because the scaling is pretty harsh. OTOH there was waaaaay too much reward for good execution in X-Men vs Street Fighter, haha...
