I got up to 1750 BP on XBL today after my third session of games. Stick still feels weird, but that's getting better. I modded an SE like ZoW, but with Sanwa (OBSF-30) buttons to go with the JLF. Throw/engage feel a bit weird, and they felt weirder after the so-called JLF ultimate mod that I later undid. By reducing the engage and throw with electrical tape wrapped around the actuator, etc., I think the diagonals become too large relative to up, down, left, right, so that's not a good thing. I'm going to try getting a Seimitsu LS-32 instead. As a side bonus, this switch would make shmups playable lol.
After failing a bunch of DPs, I said screw it, broke away from ST shoto roots, and started running with Gief. That's when I remembered that green hand/pimp slap/banishing flat has been a DP motion since Alpha. Oh well. So I'm never sure whether to blame poor execution or lag whenever I get hit instead of doing an EX green hand. Also, I'm never sure if it was the combination of my spacing and the enemy's jump-in attack or the lag whenever I get hit out of crouch -> PPP lariat. Got hit by j.HP, cr. HP xx hadoken xx super, ultra by a 1400 BP Ken out of one of those failed lariats.
I think after learning some matchups things will go better. Maybe I'll beat the Dictator that did nothing but headstomps and knee presses. And maybe I'll win against a decent Sagat. Mostly right now I'm just sad that nobody wants to play footsies with Zangief, much less give him a hugs.

yea but i hear it's a badly placed washer, that causes the joystick to stick on diagonal position. so it's easily fixed. if i see it is more than that ill just mod everything out asap.
anyways, back from a short playing session. and i got raped, stupid akuma and his demon S/U if only it were easier to do.
I always screw up doing teleport, that cost me some games

i started this about a week ago, its not complicated 
bubble top is the shiny circle thing on top of his stick on the SE pic,
buttons are self explanatory,
plugs are those 2 black things where the buttons more to the right are supposed to be
I.E the L1 and L2
they cover up the button holes. since we only use 6 buttons.
octagon gate is the mounting board, a metal plate where you mount the joystick

Yeah, good point. Let me describe in more detail what I experienced with the JLF ultimate mod. I'm referring to the "wrap electrical tape around the actuator" part, although the microswitch part has a similar effect. Actually, I only did this portion--I did not switch springs or put paper inside the microswitch containers, as I didn't have another spring and putting paper inside the microswitch containers sounds like a messy and bad idea to me.
I haven't heard anybody else point this out, so I'm not sure if I'm right here, but this is my understanding of what happens (quick diagram I made):
Stick at rest should be in the center of "Neutral."
You're shrinking the engage and throw distances equally by the amount of the thickness of the tape put on. This means the deadzone shrinks, but the distance between start of engage and edge (full throw) remains constant. Originally the dead zone and engage zones should be balanced, but I think this mod messes up the balance, overemphasizing diagonals. Or at least it did without doing the paper with the microswitch. On the other hand, an LS-32 or joystick with smaller engage and throw should be balanced yet smaller overall. I think.
edit: not that the actual gate is shrinking with the JLF ultimate mod, but the effective areas are changing. Maybe imagine a circle for the joystick in the center of the first diagram at rest. Then make the circle larger...what do you get?
In hindsight, I think the ultimate mod may work especially well with an octagonal gate, as octagonal gates de-emphasize the diagonals.
edit2: Etherone, I was playing Akuma at the start. If you're on XBL, add me as "Myrmidon0". Or anyone add me for that matter.
On a side note, the SE stick washer not only makes the joystick mechanically stuck, but since it's moving up and griding against the PCB, it can dynamically short circuit some of the connections too. (lol)

i just hate discers!! yesterday started playing ranked (with controller... what a bummer) lost a couple of games to a gouken player, then i found him again, won a close battle but got a good reading, found him again and the mofo disced after one perfect and almost a second one... same thing happened a bit later against a ken and a m.bison, cant wait for my stick to come over, in the end i buyed once since all the "parts stores" were closed until april and even then i would have to wait a bit for shipping...
im not a good player, but i love competition... zXk3 at XBL, mainly sagat & sakura player

i'm kinda sad that people don't play more varied characters. i'm at mid 3000 BP on XBL and it's 90% ryu, ken, sagat, balrog, bison, blanka, and gief.
i play sakura, i've seen like 1 other sakura online, ever. and then after i beat him he sent me a message saying "THANKS I LEARNED A LOT" which just means he jacked my combos.
