It’s not crazily atypical these days to do something in that ballpark.

Last I checked (which has been a while) CoD want like 50$ for their 8 hours story campaign and that every year and with basically the same game over and over. And it somehow works for them so Kudos

The issue is all the already big streamers who were streaming it (which is where all the viewers came from) - have no reason to stream it currently as there's no money for them in it so until the game properly releases and everyone can play it I imagine the viewer numbers will be low.

LOL, its just a video game. relax man. i counted 16121 words... it is not 16000 words ... you're lying to the fans! ! ! Seriously though, deception can be a matter of degree. Lots of marketing is hyperbole bordering on BS. We'll know in 6 months whether or not FrostGate is the real deal.

The company account of Torch (he who was once named Trevor Housten) has gone cold. He has left us only 12 reddit posts in his years of labour as "esports specialist before a game of esports is played". We must scry from them like the golden plates found by Joseph Smith, the answers are in here. There's no way someone would be employed for years to just make a dozen reddit posts, this is something more! Some of them look like commandments, they are numbered. Are these the right ways to live? Others are more cryptic --- talking of the 'Path to Pro'. Is this the road to enlightenment? TORCH COME BACK! I am not ready for this task! These seer stones burn my trembling hands like hot coals. PLEASE DON'T ABANDON US!

Dilbert is universally enjoyed because it is very common. In many software dev. shops 5 people out of 50 employees do 95% of the work. So you get a lot of screwing around at most places by most people. There are some people that are very very good at appearing to work hard. In my first permanent full time job I spent half my time developing a product that would be the cornerstone of the company I founded after leaving that full time job. ![]()

This IT Support scene is hilarious because it is so common. No one would be laughing if this never happened. Thing is.. it happens all the time. Of course, the publishers of video games are trying to get you to spend money so they have to tell you everyone worked extremely hard on the product. Usually , some employees worked extremely hard. The probability of a company like say.. Bungie having 1300 people who all works their asses off is zero. The probability that all 50+ people connected with Stormgate all work extremely hard is low. I think the quote from Tim Morten was "this is the most mission driven team I've ever worked on". He sounds like Dana White or Vince Mcmahon... "THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT WRESTLING Pay Per View Ever... and its only $100". This is the most mission driven team Tim Morten has ever been on... until the next team. Then they'll be the most mission driven team he has ever been on.

The player base at about 600 people. https://stormgateworld.com/stats https://steamcharts.com/app/2764900 The late pledge drive brought in about 1,200 new customers. It is interesting to note that this did not slow the decline in player base. In fact, the decline in the player base accelerated during the late pledge drive. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/stormgate-late-pledge#/ $0.9 Million in "expressions of interest" to invest in Frost Giant's via the StartEngine campaign. https://www.startengine.com/offering/frostgiant $0 from Streamers. 0 comments from Artosis. Has any RTS influencer/streamer publicly acknowledged giving money to Stormgate for investment purposes? All I've heard is Influencer/Streamers publicly stating they were NOT investing. Beomulf, Grubby, ZombieGrub, Stormgate Central, etc etc. Frost Giant went on a campaign soliciting donation money from Streamers/Influencers. If any public acknowledgements are made about wanting to invest in Stormgate I will update this post with the proper numbers. I'd say the streamers/influencers are not too impressed with Stormgate.

PLEASE DON'T ABANDON US! Why exactly did they hire an esports-specialist years before the game was about to be released? Those are the types of decisions that make me inclined to believe they wasted way too much money while getting investor money was easy.

Shiro Games was a tiny indie studio when a small part of the company made Northgard. And game making tools have only improved since then. Game making tools don't get worse over time. They get better. It is hard to tell how good Frost Giant is right now though. Let's see what they come up with in the next six months.
