Haha yeah that made me immediately fall in love with the medic unit xD Responsiveness and pathfindining was good but not superb but the campaign missions and story are really cool and the added RPG elements like boss fights and choice elements are quite a unique approach I haven't seen too much in RTS. Art style is a bit too bright/ colorful for my taste but I don't really care much for art anyway as long as the gameplay is fun.
I have it wishlisted

Yeah, there's a lot of work to do. The better control group and unit management (add to the group, exclude from the group, select all units of the type, adequate buildings hotkeys, etc). Hotkey remapping Maybe mixed command card (like dash on z, healing on x, shotgun on c, etc.)
Regarding the art style. Well, we have pin-up nurses and lightbulb rifle magazines. This is basically Futurama the RTS. Excessively saturated colors are expected =)

If it wasn't $30 I would play it myself. But I enjoyed watching Grubby play that. It's only made by a couple people too. Incredible what they were able to do I hope they get hired to a big company. Godsworn is well worth the money imo. Honestly just looking for a fun RTS and it’s scratching that itch well, I even like it as much as AoM. It’s more complex that it looks, I lost quite a few pvp games against different types of players Just wish there’s a larger player base

Godsworn looks very interesting but I promised myself to not buy into any early access RTS game and I intend to keep that promise. Also playerbase in incredible low. Maybe with 1.0 release and a swell of people

If Stormgate doesn't make it, I think RTS might be done for me, besides watching the occasional BW SSL or major SC2 tournament. Nothing else on the horizon interests me. Maybe that will change.
Well, I first played Warcraft 2 when I was about 10, which was on our first PC - a 100 MHz Pentium with 8 MB of RAM. We didn't even have the internet until BW came out a few years later. I'm now 39, I guess I've had a good run.

RTS is in the best place it has ever been.
I hope you are not invested in this mess. Else i cant make sense of your post

Yeah, I dont get it too. There are so many great RTS games right now that are fun and awesome to play, for all genres even. Stormgate failing is no end for RTS, Stormgate is absolutely not as important for the genre as some might think.

It's just the end for me, not for everyone - as I said, I'm not really interested in other RTS games. It probably means I'm not a big RTS fan in the first place? I played the hell out of Warcraft 2, 3, SC/BW, SC2.
I played a little bit of AoE4, earlier Command & Conqueors (Tiberian Sun), a little Total Annihilation and also some games no one remembers like Armies of Exigo. (Tried to find it on that image, might be there). Of the non-Blizzard RTSs, probably less than 20 hours combined across all games.
I'm not a big campaign guy and I would imagine 90% of the games in that image have small or no multiplayer player bases. I like RTS for the competition and e-sports scenes.
I genuinely find Stormgate fun, but it definitely won't last for a long time in its current state without more creativity. I'm certainly not invested in FGS, and in this thread earlier I strongly recommended not to invest in it unless you were OK with losing 100% of your principal. I did buy the Kickstarter, but I've got about 93 hours in it now, so if it failed today I've got my money's worth.
In my mind I was also thinking of SC2 - which currently has no tournament scene and apparently nothing on the horizon. Makes me bitter, which is why I posted what I did.
Maybe I should try another RTS to rekindle that passion a bit.

The lack of any serious tournament announcements for SC2 is far more troubling than SG crashing and burning.

Hey I’m with you dude, the genre is in an overall great spot, however there’s nothing on the horizon I can see that’ll have me playing and following for years like SC2, or WC3 before that for me.
I might have a few fun dates or a wee fling, but I’m not seeing wife material out there!

I mean Elazor/Lambo and maybe some others are playing the shit out of Deadlock, these 2 even played competitive tournament already. :D

Early Access for big releases always carries the risk of them selling enough copies that they don't care about finishing the game anymore, that I agree. But for indie devs it's basically the only way they can get made.

Godsworn, even only being made by two people, has way more polish and features than SG right now and only gets better with the updates. Def. been worth it so far.
I am waiting for Tempest Rising and D.O.R.F. because it looks so silly as KKND2 back then.

The genre is already considered not profitable by the big studios. If Stormgate fails we will likely not get anything as big.

I rather have good games like age of mythology and godsworn than AAA games like Stormgate tbh.

Silly can be awesome and D.O.R.F looks so silly that it makes the name seem resolutely sensible

Different tempo, different quirks and different emphasis in gameplay, even social aspects are different. There's so very few in common between them.
If you enjoy a few of them, then chances are you would like some other RTS games just as much, given its good fun.
When I was in stormgate discord, this is being recited over and over again or they wouldn't want to play sc2 because there's no new update.
Since when did we have to have idea where updates and patches are needed to make a game fun. If you are looking for freshiness then nothing is more interesting than playing a good RTS with very different mechanics
