Every review I read about the game gives it high scores. But why? Is it because they want to encourage EA to make more single player games or perhaps the game is actually good and there's something wrong with me, lol I just dont get it. Not sure what you expected TBH. I mean, sure, it's no Witcher 3 and it could be a bit more adult. But story'wise it is as Star Wars as it gets. Lightsabers, cute droids, light/dark force tug of war Graphics are good. Almost no bugs. Game is actually finished at release. Combat is good and demanding. All in all a really solid game with Star Wars flavor. Which is exactly what people were wanting for a loooong time What would you rate it out of 100 incidentally? ‘Game is actually finished at release’ is quite depressing to be mentioned as a plus point for any game. Probably will pick this up one of these days, passes the brief ‘looks good’ test and now I’m avoiding as many spoilers of specifics as I try to play games as blind as possible. Looks like a good game with the Star Wars feel but they’re not leaning too hard on that as a crutch, as all the good SW games from my childhood were like. Dark Forces was a damn solid FPS, X-Wing and Tie Fighter were great combat flight sims etc. I would rate it somewhere in the low-mid 80's I guess. Gun to my head: 82/100 Potential improvements: - Fast travel (at least a few points) - More skillpoints / skilltrees / different builds / RPG stuff - Decisions which influence the story ‘Game is actually finished at release’ is quite depressing to be mentioned as a plus point for any game. I know. Sad but true. You disagree? ![]() Hope I didn't spoiler too much. I tried to avoid any specifics ^^' Metacritic has it at 81 so you’re pretty on the consensus! I don’t disagree at all but it’s just a depressing indictment on the industry. No spoilers thus far anyway! I just look enough information about a game to whet my appetite and then play it blind from there, and I don’t think anything has really been spoiled yet. I don’t really understand people who voraciously consume everything about a game because you never have that feeling of discovery and learning, it’s like dating a girl after you’ve seen her sex tape already. Rofl that is a bad comparison :D I completely understand your thoughts regarding a game. I mean figuring shit out is half the fun! But I would most definitely still date the girl after I've seen her sex tape ^^

It probably helps that I haven't played any Uncharted so I'm not tired of the genre and I rather like the different puzzles. The story so far is rather enjoyable to follow, not amazing, standard Star Wars stuff. Was afraid Cal was going to be a bit whiny but he's fine and his relationship with BD1 is well done. And obviously, being a sucker for everything DS/Sekiro like, the light saber fights are just fucking great, finally a game that gets the tension (playing on Jedi Master).

Youngsters these days :p I think playing games from the age of 6 for the next 24 years as one of my main hobbies I’ve seen a lot of stuff before already so remaining relatively unspoiled is that much more important. I know a vague bit about Dark Souls and am about to start playing through. Opinions seem to vary but iirc a lot like how DS worked level design wise, with less fast travel to hubs like in some of the others, and that backtracking is OK because it’s your ‘downtime’ and a mental break after beating an area? It seems to be a consistent complaint about this game which crudely seems to be basically Star Wars Dark Souls? Is there a reason it’s more obnoxious backtracking in Fallen Order? Dark Souls has a really cool art style and world that is probably fun to appreciate when sauntering about, is it not so much the case here? I am currently enjoying my play of Breath of the Wild with self-imposed limits such as not using fast travel, I find it more immersive and I’m enjoying traversing the world but I imagine that’s not sustainable over a full game run,

I take that as a compliment ![]() My first advice still stands btw: Get Origin Premiere for a month and try it out! 15$ is not wasted much if it's not you thing at all. Me personally, I find all kinds of backtracking awful. Specially in games like this where everything can kill you if you are not careful. Much less a problem with, lets say Diablo, where you are lvl 60 in a lvl 20 area and everything just tickles you. Here even 2 stupid rats can kill you.

I think people are bound to be generous because it's the first single player story driven Star Wars game in like 9 years, the first by EA and just generally one of the better ones as well (as well as being a finished game worth the full prize, I remember Force Unleashed 2 I had fully completed in terms of achievements and collectibles in under 12 hours while for Fallen Order it took over 30). For a first effort this was a much better game than I expected, so I'm inclined to rate it more highly. You seem to have expected more, so you rate it a bit lower. In terms of Force Powers, to be honest you are simply limited because it's a game about a Jedi Padawan (with no training other than that) becoming a Jedi Knight. Every other single player Star Wars game where you were in control of a Force user allowed you the option to go to the Dark Side or to at least use its Force Powers (predominantly Force Lightning) to a certain extent, which also made sense within the story. For a Jedi using the Force in combat, beyond Push, Pull, Saber Throw and slowing down time, variety starts to get bleak. In terms of gameplay I suppose the most similar game I've played this year is Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. On all accounts, that's a superior game. But Fallen Order had its moments I absolutely adored as well. And I'd be more than happy if they made another. On a different note, who killed y'all the most? My #1 struggle was the Oggdo Bogdo on Bogano cause I just went in with basically no skills and resources so I died a lot.

Well, being an honorable man, I engaged him in his arena and got my shit pushed in until I learned the combat well enough. That said, following that experience I focused so much on the dodging aspect of combat and much less on parrying which just made the game harder than it needed to be in some fights. That's a realization I had from watching others play the game after the fact.
