Then my lady played it on Switch (docked with switch pro controller) and got kinda hooked, so when Hades 2 came out (in early access) I got a Steam Deck + dock to play on the TV and used a PS4 controller. Now I'm looking probably at playing n KB+M on PC again. I don't know. It's Supergiant, so... everything works great and feels great. :D I imagine aiming with the bow or gun in Hades 1 using a controller is tough, but I think they made better design decisions in Hades 2 where specific aiming is less required and there are no weapons directly equivalent to the bow in Hades1. I think I beat the game (to the extent possible in EA) with every weapon type on some decent heat using the PS4 controller.

I played the original Hades on Switch (both docked/controller and handheld modes), and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I have high expectations for Hades 2 too! I ranked Hades as the highest A+ on my tier list... just short of S rank... so we'll see where Hades 2 ends up ![]()

I loved Hades and Hades 2 is just more of the same great recipe with a few more mechanics. Game feels a bit harder which I personally think is great. Love the visuals of the game and generally just the entire world/lore. Can't wait to go further in the game and get to Chronos

LOL. We've got a USB port that is not universal and a ROM cartridge slot that is slow. ![]() I think there is a good reason to have a non-USB port that appears to be a USB port. However, this cartridge thing.. is great comedy. This is assuming any of the cartridge yap is even true. Until it is independently verified I ain't listening to financially compromised orgs begging for continued access to a curated, walled off garden.

I can get not liking them if you don't like their games but they bring so much joy to many children throughout the world and have done so for half a century already

That being said, I'm also aware of some decisions they've made that are worthy of scrutiny and even criticism. (I'm not speaking for JimmyJRaynor, but I'm aware that Nintendo is far from perfect.) For example, Nintendo has some of the most valuable intellectual property in all of video games, and they could lose millions (possibly billions) of dollars if other organizations or individuals were allowed to sell their own versions of Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, and other popular Nintendo franchises. Nintendo has legitimate legal concerns where if they give some leeway and allow some knock-offs to be created (even if those are small, innocuous, and free), Nintendo might have a much tougher time enforcing the occasional big, high-stakes, and costly copycats. It's a slippery slope and a tough argument, legally speaking, to argue that you want to be selective on when to enforce your intellectual property rights, and when to just let people copy you because it's no big deal. It's much simpler and safer to stop any and all copying, due to how intellectual property law works. This has led Nintendo to be extremely litigious and hesitant to support scenes that customize/modify/copy their games, such as the competitive Super Smash Bros. Melee scene, Pokemon fan games, and illegal piracy/emulation/ROMs of current-gen and older-gen Nintendo games. Even if those communities/hackers aren't trying to be malicious, Nintendo prefers to be in control of every aspect of their property. I don't blame Nintendo for doing that, but other game manufacturers and developers have a much more laid back approach. Furthermore, Nintendo's focus on intellectual property has led them to request patents for some aspects of their games that are already being used universally by other developers, and receiving said patents could lead to Nintendo cracking down on creativity from other developers that aren't even truly infringing on any unique parts of Nintendo games. For example, it's one thing to shut down a blatant rip-off of Pokemon, but should that mean that no other games can exist where you use monsters to fight and/or catch other monsters? I don't think Nintendo would go that far, but some people are worried that they might. Most other concerns I've seen (increasing the cost of games, moving more towards digital games, etc.) are concerns that gamers generally have about all three main companies - Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft - and aren't unique to Nintendo.

I agree with everything you said. Nintendo is obviously far away from being perfect. But then again there is no perfect company. ^^ And yeah costs. I always say games haven't had price increases every year so it's fine for me if they do at one point

And they still are, for the Switch and Switch 2 lol. It's wild that people are flipping out that approximately 1 game, 30 years later, is going to be $80 (and only for people who voluntarily choose *not* to buy the game - Mario Kart World - for the $50 sale price).

My Father, who is by no means a rich man, bought me Chameleon Twist new in the box for $99CAD + sales tax for a grand total of $115 CAD for my 11th birthday in December 1997. The consoles/hardware have become more expensive over the generations/decades... $200 -> $300 -> $400, etc., but once they're bought and consumers focus on games/software, things are much cheaper than they used to be. If the cost of video games had increased proportionately with inflation between 1996 (N64's release) and today, current video games would be twice the cost of the old N64 games. We definitely don't see most Switch 2 games costing anywhere near $120-$140 lol.

It is just more Hades but with great paths of improving your character. Overall I just really like getting stronger for each run - while also learning new enemy patterns and how to use the different weapons.

Hades was an A+ for me; I think Hades 2 will end up being an A. Still fantastic and highly recommended, and more of the same great work by Supergiant.
