I just wish it were possible to make a new Diddy Kong Racing game too.

This week is Hades 2 and Pac-Man World Re-Pac 2; Next week is Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles and Super Mario Galaxy 2; October is Yooka-Replaylee, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake; November is Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Kirby Air Riders; December is Octopath Traveler 0 and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond; aaand then early 2026 has a bunch of other games I want to play (plus some newly announced games whose release dates haven't yet been announced, but might still be late 2025 or early 2026).

the catchphrase he was searching for and never said was: "the devil is in the details". This guy does a nice job of digging into the details of Nintendo's patent tactics. THe pokeman company was also granted the same patent. Anyhow, Nintendo continues its law-fare tactics. Continued scumbucket practices from a scumbucket company. These people who treat Nintendo like their best friend are delusional. She should credit her parents for creating her happy childhood. Nintendo did not give her a happy childhood. There are 87 bazillion great games out there. With all the free time she had as a kid she would just find another great game to play. This chick is off her rocker. If she doesn't think the Switch2 offers a good value proposition then she should not buy it; please, don't turn a console purchasing decision into some deep philosophical life moment. This chick is nuts. She provides a good summary of what Nintendo has been up to lately. Spare me the maudlin presentation though.

I gotta say, between the epic ending of Super Mario Odyssey, the epic ending of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the epic ending of Donkey Kong Bananza, and the epic ending of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Nintendo really knows how to land a perfect, all-the-feels finale. Well played.

I think if there were no tariffs Nintendo would've kept those jobs in the USA. Nintendo created a bargaining chip for itself by laying off these workers. I'm seeing this play out in many areas. Lots of formerly "friendly to America" entities are creating leverage any way they can. I'm surprised that the US administration is surprised by these actions. The recorders were not illegal in Canada. Renting was not illegal in the USA. Nintendo did everything they could to crush rentals and crush backing up carts on 3.5" floppies. She personifies Nintendo likes its a real person throughout here 20+ minute critique. Nintendo is a big corp no different than Disney or Mattel. I think one of the reasons people are so emotional and angry with Nintendo is that Nintendo used to be the cheap option. the NES was $100 a year after it was released. Their biggest competitor was the C64... a minimum $500 investment. In 1996, the SNES was $100 or $190 in today's money with a great pack-in game and 2 controllers. The 3DS was $170 in late 2011 or $250 is today's money. The GameCube was $100 less than 2 years after its debut. The Wii was super cheap. Nintendo is no longer the scrappy little guy compared to big bruisers MS and Sony. Nintendo is the Incumbent.

This creates a bargaining chip for Nintendo. In a year or two, Nintendo can bargain new American jobs in exchange for lower tariffs. I think Nintendo is playing Chess, not Checkers, with this US layoff. Nintendo can say... hey... lower our tariffs... give us a special exemption on tariffs and we'll put 500 jobs in the USA. While I disagree that Nintendo is not different to Disney or Mattel (they are way worse) I agree with you it is a big corp. And I am sure that Nintendo is trying to get the next innovative thing but you can't force it. For the Switch to happen it needed the Wii U which was a financial disaster for Nintendo. Nintendo was a lot of good things under Iwata but that is also a long time ago. Also thank you very much for the tl:dr!

If anything, the delay makes Nintendo look good because they were able to keep lying Randy PItchford ... honest. This is hilarious. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/s2ZKy_1u0Xw I don't think devs delaying their own game reflects the console company in any particular way, so I don't see Nintendo in a better or worse light as a result of this. Also, at the end of the day, I'd rather have the devs spend a little more time to make sure the game is truly done, as opposed to rushing out a half-assed product. I haven't played the Borderlands games, but if the devs want to push back the release date of Borderlands 4, then I won't judge until the game is actually released.

They did nothing to improve the horrible problems with BL1, 2 and 3 on the Switch 2. Many games got updated for Switch 2... not the Gearbox games though. Clearly, they were given a precious DevKit based on big promises made to Nintendo. Many great indies like the makers of UFL and Legend Bowl are being denied those DevKits. If DevKits were plentiful I would not judge Gearbox so harshly. Also, this yap from Pitchford now looks so cringe in retrospect. Contrast this, with all the work they did on 1 and 2 leading up to 3. Gearbox has fallen down badly since the Movie and New Tales. It cost the company massive sums of money and now they are trying to soak up cash from their fans in any way they can. In my world, a top exec that berates the fans of his #1 franchise while directly BSing them about basic technical facts... gets judged accordingly.

Another set of game developers has just come out in favor of the key cards as well... the Final Fantasy VII Remake team: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2025/09/final-fantasy-vii-remake-intergrade-director-highlights-the-speed-problem-with-switch-2-game-cards While physical cartridges definitely have value to gamers, on the game dev side it appears that key cards have some key advantages over carts... particularly "the speed of loading high-end, AAA games and their huge assets".
