- Kirby’s Return To Dream Land Deluxe is a cute 2D Kirby game, as expected. Demo is decent, although very predictable and formulaic. I don't think I'm gonna pay the full price for the whole game though. - Sea Of Stars is a turn-based JRPG that I backed on Kickstarter, and the demo is pretty encouraging. I've already paid in advance for the game, and I'm confident I made the right decision. Very happy with the gameplay so far, although there wasn't a ton to do in the demo. Unfortunately for Sea Of Stars, it has to compete with... - Octopath Traveler II. Oh hell yeah. The demo lets you play any stories/characters for a total of 3 hours (I made it through the beginning chapters of both the thief and scholar classes). I really enjoyed the first Octopath Traveler, and they did a great job continuing the gorgeous music, graphics, and combat. Characters have new strategies to make battles even more interesting and flexible to the player's preferences, while still retaining the feel of the original jobs. There's also a new day/night cycle that you can toggle between, to essentially double the interesting perks of each class. So far, everything seems as good as - if not better than - the original. I hope that the 8 storylines are presented in a more intertwined fashion throughout the game; the lack of overlapping fates was the biggest drawback of the first game imo. I already pre-ordered OT2, and I can't wait for it to come out Edit: Some pictures of Octopath Traveler 2: + Show Spoiler +

I'm keeping an eye on Sea of Stars. I still have Chained Echoes on my wishlist. Got quite a few games on my backlog, some of which I haven't bought yet. Octopath Traveler 2 is definitely one of those games that I will sneak in somewhere in the backlog because of how much I loved the first one.

I've never heard of Ghost Trick Phantom Detective, that sounds like a really fun idea for a game. Thanks for the tip, I will definitely pick that one up.

If the music is anywhere close to the quality of the first game, it will be an absolute delight to play just on that basis. I found myself repeatedly leaping up from the game to run to the piano and jam along with that incredible background music, and it's been in heavy rotation ever since on my work music playlist. OT's soundtrack was absolutely amazing! + Show Spoiler + My favorite theme: Early reviews of OT2 are very positive, as expected:

I like how the game is cross compatible with PC and different platforms and account progress is saved etc. However, the PC version is also not currently free to play so in the future, I’ll probably download it on steam so I can play on my PC. I’ve only played it with the switch docked so don’t know about performance issues when handheld. I can see myself putting into a lot more hours into it. Highly recommend this game for anyone who likes Animal Crossing type games.

Of course, right now I'm loving the hell out of Octopath Traveler 2. Three things I wish I knew about OT2 before I started playing: 1. The first character you choose will be permanently in your party until you complete their entire storyline, so while you can rotate between the other 7 characters for the other 3 party slots whenever you want, your primary character will be with you for a while. 2. Holding down a button (ZR?) fast-forwards through the day/night cycle, which is amazing because some character actions, dialogues, enemies, and town interactions only occur during the day, while others only occur during the night. 3. Each character's chapter one is pretty easy and straightforward, and leveling them up in advance before playing their chapter one doesn't generally help (their chapter one intro temporarily brings them back to level one, with no upgraded gear you may have given them in advance), but if you want to take advantage of one peculiarity to make chapter one even easier: The characters keep their passive secondary skills that they've learned through leveling up, even in chapter one. For example, if the thief unlocks a few passive scholar or hunter skills from being leveled up with those secondary jobs, the thief can still use them during their chapter one story, and some of those passive skills are really useful (like having free stat boosts). And finally, today's Pokemon Presents video with new Pokemon stuff:

It's why I (and many others) had a first party of 4 that I completed all chapters with, and then swapped out all 4 for a second party, rather than constantly rotating. Both methods have positives and negatives, it's one of the biggest headaches i had in the first game lol, deciding on how to level my chars!

I did the same thing in OT1 and I'm doing the same thing in OT2: My first team is/was always Warrior, Thief, Scholar, and Cleric - because those 4 jobs reminded me of the more traditional JRPG classes I played growing up, for maximum comfort and nostalgia - and then my second team feels like an entirely novel, exciting, and challenging motley crew.

But now I notice it's actually cheaper for PS5? What? I guess PS5 somehow considers it an indie/shorter game and hence doesn't ask the full 80 euros while Nintendo just charges full price like for all other games? Will probably still buy it on Switch, the difference is minimal, I was just really surprised by this.

e: on Steam/PC it's 60 euros. Nintendo switch cartridge 54 euros, PS5 disk 53 euros, PS4 disk 51,6 euros. Just surprisingly cheap pricing for the PS versions.
