has anyone tried class mods, any particular mods that are actually good?
|
Class mods not really. I don't trust people to get classes right. But there are plenty of good mods:
- True retroactive AWC - Free camera rotation - Evac all - Numeric Health display
I also use the muton centurion, officer and LMG mods. I haven't used the LMG yet tho as i tend to stop playing playthroughs when a bit later when i reach mag weapons and start over, but more enemies and the officer one are good ones.
Oh, and Capnbubs. Dat ballistic glasses.
Seriously capnbubs, it's impossible to say no to this mod.

Now he only needs real kevlar helmets because the delta games in game make your soldiers look like mushroom.

Haha, get ready for a surprise! rocket + killzone inc!
My specialist emptied her mag on that pack, lol. 5 shots and they all hit.

Specialist with that overwatch multiple shot ability seems pretty decent if you give them scopes and aim pcs. It's not something to rely on but it's a good, no fuss source of extra damage every now and then.
|
Yeah, i have got the 6 guardian shots once, with repeater they are sometimes amazing.
Damn, Dank events are strong, just got this on my playthrough.

Never really cared about viper rounds. Often my missions end with most attacked being blank or meme beacon.

I have 2 specialists with it and it triggers so often for them. Once had six overwatch shots between the two of them, destroyed an entire pod in one go with it.
Also it was kind of weird that I got + Show Spoiler +Spokesman's final transmission as ambient dialogue right before I heard the exact same thing in the cutscene.

No, I don't have that mod and I've seen that dark event twice. On the other hand, I've never had the one where you get chased by a UFO that I've seen in videos. Got one randomly but not as part of a Dark Event I think.

Yes if you leave the campaign hanging long enough after recovering the + Show Spoiler + you will get that dialog randomly throw in which is kinda silly Oo
And no I have not seen the UFO dark event either in 2 playthrough. I assumed the pictures were from beta and it got changed, would also explain why the Defense building still exists despite only being used once, which is a huge waste.

i had the ufo event twice but you can dodge it rather easily.

You can dodge it? I've never managed to dodge it.

TIL: If a dominated alien is wounded while under your control and survives until the end, you don't get a "flawless" victory.

The 3rd UFO in September randomly appeared (without any Dank Event) and aimlocked me. I was sitting in China, making contact and building a radio tower. It kept hovering over me like an angry wasp. When I finally lifted off it came straight at me xD I guess its hard-scripted so you have to do at least 1 ramp defense mission per playthrough.
It was ez pz by that point anyway. I sent my col. stealth ranger + col. squad overwatch sniper to the beacon. Sniper had rapid fire, killed beacon in 1 turn, 1st pod had a elite shieldbearer I mind controlled, gave the forward team the 5 damage shield thingy, and I was out by turn 7.
|
yeah Phantom Ranger + Sharpshooter kinda trivialize the mission.
I must be a real pain in the behind without it tho if you have to actually run your team up to the beacon.
|
I got that mission on April on Legendary once. There is no problem that an army of grenadier squaddies can't solve.
|
I had the beacon spawn behind a building once, so there was no way to really squad snipe it. The ledge that the ship is on was also really long towards it. I sneaked the stealth ranger there and waited until all the pods moved to attack the ship, then killed it and ran out.
In another playthrough I got out on turn 3, MCed first alien to come in view, got sight of objective with that and squad sniped it from the ship. Ezpz.
