I hope swords get buffed in legendary mode, or scale better late game for all game modes. They also need more unique missions like they had in XCOM EU/EW, like that dreaded infinite Chrysalid mission in Newfoundland, or the rescue mission on the water dam There are already a ton of unique missions...like every single one required by the campaign, the shoot down, the thing that happens when you skulljack a codex...

If you knew how to do it, it is just far to easy. Even in Long War

Has anyone else had a mission where one enemy just kept running around the map avoiding you for 10-12 turns? I had an archon do that to me on a UFO mission. He made 2 loops completely around the map before getting cornered and hiding in the last possible place I looked.

I just miss all 90% shots against Archons. Haven't had the problem of running away from me, haha.

Oh man, that first time though. I don't think a game has stressed me out as much as that mission did on my first play-through. I had to have one guy do a heroic 'ill hold them off kind of deal'. Probably one of my favorite recent gaming experiences.

yeah the problem with scripted missions is that they are only fun once and xcom isnt the game for that. in one of my recent playthroughts i delayed the story missions so much that i was fighting against gatekeepers and sectopods before i did the psionic gate mission. turns out killing one scripted gatekeeper and a few lids isnt all that hard when you have at least one gatekeeper on every mission anyway.
what i enjoyed in long war though were missions with unusual enemies. i remember a zombie apocalypse terror mission with only zombies and a few lids on the map and another zergrush mission with only lids including a boss lid. those were always super fun. i would like it if xcom2 threw in a few missions with really weird pods.

It crashes when I try to LOAD the saved game.

Yes, chrysallids cocoons corrupt your save files, it's been known before. No fix for this yet sadly Just play safe, don't lose soldiers and do it in 1 go. 1 of your soldiers (and every civilian) that gets killed by a Chryssallid turns into a cocoon that will spawn more 'lids on your ass, but each "birth cycle" has reduced HP. Anyway that somehow fucks with the game save files so... yeah play safe and play in 1 go. The "antfarm" save before the mission should be not corrupted so start from there.

And most of the XCOM 2 missions otherwise felt that way too with the timed extraction, protect "x device", bomb alien facility, the attempted Avenger hijack, etc.
I guess maybe there will be more to come down the road

Well, I dont have any saves before that as I play ironman so I guess I am screwed!

Most of the scripted missions in Xcom 1 were DLC so hopefully they will come later.

I had more issues with the psionic gate mission than I did with normal missions that just so happen to have chrysalids. Too often, I ended up moving within their range on my turn so they would unburrow and rush at me even during my turn. Funny enough, I've never had that happen on retaliation missions. I guess it's because there are so many of them in that mission and I didn't have enough battle scanners/scanning protocols with me on that mission.

I just did this one mission where I had to neutralize all hostiles while expecting heavy resistance

Sure, just saying the first time was a lot of fun before it becomes predictable.

Psi damage is in most cases guaranteed hit, ignores armor and cannot be dodged. Psi all the way baby.
