First levels for them april 28, both get stasis and both can train null lance in 10 days :O oh shit. I had mag weapons researched quite a bit earlier than that, but couldn't afford to upgrade any of them and april 29 I researched the armor upgrade. So next month is all about buying myself armor and weapons. Also have to establish one radio tower, my starting area bonus was 50% extra supply from black market sales.

The cost is quite damn severe, the upgrade to psi-labs is 225 supply and 5 power. So I'm tying down an engineer to boost the psi labs and another to power up my ship. That one engineer left has a hell of a job to dig to the last coil on his own. First levels for them april 28, both get stasis and both can train null lance in 10 days :O oh shit. My guess is that the optimal timing for psi ops is after mag weapons. I didn't even bother with psionics in my first play through, which I hugely regretted on the dark tower mission. Fortunately for me, colonel sword rangers are basically gods. EDIT: Damn, I didn't realize how strong psi ops are. Shame on me for not getting them.

I agree, story is better than first game. I just wished individual missions made more sense. I guess Firaxis does not care for that.

![]() Pro tip: Don't spam the rotate camera hotkeys during the Aliens' turn. Or possibly ever, I don't know. The camera eventually went back to normal after a slooooow zoom in. Also I just learned that you can set waypoints when moving. That would have saved me a lot of grief at times.

These are games with limited narrative which leaves you with room to imagine your own story which is what I would personally much prefer in an x-com game rather than having b movie acting inserted into a Michael Bay movie premise. I never said zero story btw, all I need is a premise, some writing here and there, no need for horribly cartoonish characters. Again I realize that nowadays people probably want more and totally disagree with me, that's fine, I am just saying I could have done without the horrible writing.

well yeah having cut scenes feels a bit like that unnecessary thing that you have to put in your game because you have to have unnecessary cut scenes in your game.

Make the game start with the enemy strike force getting ganged up on by every alien battleship on earth and then central crashing the Avenger into it after the crew evacs so that the power levels are reset. Then have every continent have dots on them representing X-com/Resistance/Earth forces, Enemy forces and Alien forces. And each faction can choose which side they want to attack as time goes by. So if things are balanced the aliens are mostly fighting each other (presumably the new enemy will win over time unless you hit them) and you can focus on getting resources but if you grow to much then both sides might start to hit you instead.

In fact, I believe that the game benefited narrativly by assuming that the player lost the previous game.

Just finished my second Commander/Ironman playthrough, this time with a couple mods. Really liked the additional classes, having only 4 felt a little lackluster after having played longwar for so long. Advanced Warfare Center was generous this time, I got Run/Gun on like 4 of my guys, loved it. Favorite class is still a gunslinger sniper, give that guy armor piercing rounds and he will simply kill everything.

I played the shit out of that game but still can't remember it haha. Dr. Vahlen or something? Just finished my second Commander/Ironman playthrough, this time with a couple mods. In the novel, the main characters meet with her after a brief passage on a submarine leaded by Shen father. The Ayys attack the island she is working and the main character escape with her being MIA.
