Anyhow I'm attacking it now. One of my guys got grabbed by a viper, and he was still grabbed by the time everybody else had taken their turns. However, he still has action points and the game seems to expect me to spend them, except he can't because he's grappled. Not sure if this is a bug or if there's some function I'm not seeing to just end the turn manually. Yeah, once you get to a facility and destroy it, it wipes out all progress. I thought I was screwed at one point in the game because there was a facility that was three territories away from me and I had a really bad intel shortage. I think I was down to 4 days on the final countdown timer. However, I simply took to doing some of the storyline/main quests + Show Spoiler +black vial, skulljacked an officer, portal mission, skull jacked a codex and was able to fairly quickly stabilize my position on the strategic map. Once I got the intel flowing again, I expanded out to that pesky facility and blew it up, erasing another five bars of Avatar progress. Long story short, I was suddenly at tier 3 tech with only 4 bars of progress on the Avatar project completed. I basically have all of the time in the world to do whatever the hell that I want now.

I can't seem to skulljack anyone apart from the first officer that I did, do you need anything for this? I am pretty sure I am in range but it just won't let me skulljack any other officers.

Psi OPs might be a bit to strong in this game. I got my Psi-op up pretty late but she still kicked ass. PSI-stuff is just so strong.
Also, on (Story spoiler) + Show Spoiler +The ADVENT broadcast tower mission She had a 100% chance to mind control an andromedon. That helped a lot

I am pretty sure I am in range but it just won't let me skulljack any other officers. You can only skilljack twice in the entire game. Once for the advent officer and a second time on a codex (but only once the objective is unlocked). There is however an upgrade that lets you 'hack' enemies throughout the game but it does not effect the avatar progress or the storyline. It gives you a chance at Intel.

There are little red squares under Advent facilities, they show how much progress is lost when you destroy that facility.

This looks like very good design to me. you can choose whatever you like and play the game on the hard difficulty. We love it.

Bought the game this weekend based on sick reviews everywhere... Thing is, I absolutely hate losing my guys on the battlefield so it's taking me a billion years to complete a single map haha Also my first XCOM game so it happens pretty frequently :D But it looks pretty great so far!

Customize all your soldiers to look like your exes. That should help.

I don't know why, but I feel that the random number god is not on anyone's side and is just watching. But yeah, shit happens xD
I lost 3 people I think, poor bastards.

Yesterday I lost a very promising campaign due to losing 3 guys in one mission, each one of them was crit by a long range shot from an alien that was flashbanged. Fuck. Me.

I dunno honestly, I think EW was a bit less random, or maybe I had a better grasp on the full palette of bullshit it could throw at me. In XCOM2 it feels like I have to always expect the worst outcome and if I even dare to dream of 1 not absolutely worst-case scenario in a firefight the game just mercilessly slams my head back into the mud. The enemies in XCOM2 also feel far more tedious than EU/EW. Back then I had sick snipers to cheese from range and other shit, in XCOM2 there are codexes, shieldbearers, andromedons, annoying amounts of armor to shred which only grenadiers seem to do well, dashing enemies that want to melee you and always dodge: graze 6 overwatch shots, some downright unfair timers etc. I'm really gonna enjoy mods later.
EW I played through on legendary and had more fun than frustration, especially later on. XCOM2 even this late with Tier 3 weapons/armor, good nades, 6-man squads and all Colonels which should have good AIM and WILL stats on veteran difficulty mind you, still feels more frustrating than fun to play on ground missions.

I played several campaigns in EW(I have over 300 hours in that game) and I think that XCOM 2 is less random unfriendly. If I compare this situation - 6 soldiers with 70 - 80 % hit chance> EW - well, i may miss all 6 shots and then get eaten by enemy shots, which won't miss, because why not. And then the same thing happens the next round. Resulting in 11 consecutive misses with each shot having chance in that range(the probability of this happening is absurdly low and it happens to me quite a lot) XCOM 2 - some of them will score a hit. Probably 3 or 4 shots will hit, which is what I was expecting.
I know that grazed hots and shields and armor seems shit as fuck, but I still value my experience from XCOM 2 over EW, which was many times just load fest, because I couldn't accept 5 misses with 80 % in a row. That's pure BS to me.

This is a comparative chart between my XCOM2 soldiers and Enemy Within Operatives from an unfinished most recent run. + Show Spoiler +
My XCOM 1 operatives have overall much higher AIM stats and WILL didn't matter as much which made the game pretty easy that late. Can you guys compare my XCOM2 soldiers to yours? Did I just roll absolutely ABYSMAL on them, or are they more or less like yours?

Why no stims? I think the stats are lowered since they use the same engine and now you have much more ways how to improve aim (if we are discussing the end game, then + Show Spoiler ++18 PCS, +15 scope and +10 ammunition )
Edit> I'll see at home what I have

Can I manufacture PCS? On my first campaign that I scrapped I did get a nice AIM PCS but on this run I got a pretty shitty non-aim one and its the only one from 20+ missions . I also only recently started buying from the black market due do only now having excess intel to spare. I needed it for region unlocking before.
