How is this game? I heard someone say it acts more as a shooter now, since everyone seems to just react stupidly and attempt to nail you. That charisma and approaching guys with your gun away just makes them shoot you, compared to what was in F3 before.
A guy told me he approached some guys sitting under a bridge, he sneaked up on them, and had them at gunpoint, they didn't even comment it or anything, just blindly attacked. Other times he had the experience of coming towards a group with no weapons up etc, and same reaction.
Is it suppose to be like this?

It is that way. You see neutral people. Walk up to them, they start shooting. This leads to a situation where you often just shoot them from range without bothering if you aren't 90%+ sure they are friendly. This is actually an interesting choice.

Majority of the NPCs seem hostile this time around but I do find settlers and sometimes friendly scavengers but the latter are usually hostile.
|
Definitely a more of a "shoot and ask questions later" type of game. Charisma instead of getting out of sticky situations without a gunfight now governs sales and expanding your settlement(s), if you're into that kind of thing. It also gives some persuade dialogue options, but those are few and far inbetween from what I've seen over 50h+.
Also about pally Dense, no he won't shoot you in the face if you tell him about Sanctuary or that you're a Vault Dweller. He's a companion you can recruit to travel the wastelands with, and he also has a major hard-on for you modding your weapons, armor and cleansing the wastelands for the Immortal Emperor from all the heretics, mutants and unclean.

Just chiming in to announce that this is easily the best rpg of the decade. It features an un-paralleled storyline, choices dramatically effect the rest of the world, multiple factions that have consequences with each other, guns, an invincible dog.

Anyone got to some late game armor yet (not power armor) yet? I kinda want to avoid investing in armorer perks because I think in general the armors in the game look kinda stupid... Anything late game out there that makes armor perks worth it?

Unless there was another nuclear war in the meantime, it is completely nonsensical.
But I guess sense is too much to expect from a FP Diablo like. Yeah dawg, we get it, you don't like the games after Fallout 1 and 2. Since none of us are devs at Bethesda, I'm not sure what you hope to gain by trying to convert random strangers on the internet to your "I hate modern video games" religion. Maybe I am just venting about how Fo4 could have been so much better if Bethesda cared. They earned so much money from their previous games, and Obsidian earned them more money with FNV than they did with Fo3 and then they just make another Fo3 with Skyrim modding added and a fan mod for FNV (making settlements). The put zero effort into making real quests and interesting characters, they put zero effort into world around making any sense. And their game is still buggy as hell. And UI is still soo bad!
The Steam score and Metacritic score reflect this same disappointment.
I am still having fun, but I had to switch my mindset to one I have when playing Diablo like games because this game is no better in things that Diablo likes are bad at.

The whole situation reminds me of this this image (NSFWish). Anyway I am pleasantly surprised with FO4 so far, I went in with low expectations (mostly because Bethesda games have been getting worse since Morrowind in my opinion) but it's pretty good. I am almost overwhelmed with content. It feels like there is some sort of quest or whatever at every turn and I almost wish I could just run without encountering something to explore for awhile. Maybe if you could get rid of all the minor markers it would feel less cramped and improve the sense of discovery. EDIT: Image didn't work for some reason. Well on smaller community there is less chance to run into people that have different opinions for popular games. Also on newer communities dedicated to RPGs or FPS people are already going to be fanboys.
Most TL userbase is about Starcraft or Dota which are very far away from Fo4 in terms of gameplay and genre so there is a bigger chance that you got all kinds of players and not just fanboys or dedicated Bethesda fans or FPS fans. Also TL has a fairly large userbase so again a bigger chance of different people with different opinions.
This a good thing, being exposed to different opinions lets you learn more about the world and grow as a person.

I almost fell for it, but you overdid it with invincible dog part

I think the most interesting thing they could have done would have been to have you able to destroy buildings. Imagine using your mini nukes on a building to make it partially/fully collapse, opening a sniping angle into it and forcing the non sentry enemies out since the building is being killed around them.

For months?! I said it once. And that is because people were claiming it best RPG or whatever.
It is just a FP Diablo like. And people who gave 60$ for this game are still tools. Bethesda does not deserve so much money for so little effort.

Well played sir, I hardy resist to make this a sig.

Haters gonna hate. I think the people that thrash on these games just don't enjoy the general game play and wish it was something else.
Love the game so far and can't put it down. It is awesome getting into and out of power armor and I like that you can pretty much play the game with or without it. The options you have in how to build your character are very many and no matter what you choose I feel like you can get by depending on how you like to play it. I've spent a lot of time building sim city settlements and despite 1 or 2 bugs I've encountered (the settlement one I think has some workarounds I have found and read about) I would say the game overall has had many quality improvements in game play from FO3.

If Skyrim is anything to go by, then the mod community will make that 60$ investment worth it fifty times over. And the base game isn't bad per se. Just playing it until the mods really kick off, then this will be a game rivalling witcher.

To me it brings out rage and opposite emotions. I guess sheep are going to sheep.

charisma its worthless, just put 2 points, get the bobblehead, a +1 charisma item and grape mentats (+5) and with 9 theres almost nothing you cant convince... and you can use some alcohol to boost up to 10.

Considering bethesda games drop in price fast, like really fast, i can see it for $40-$30 on Christmass already

Imagine Activision buying Starcraft brand from Blizzard and creating a turn-based, ultra-simplified mobile cash-grabber. It's ultra popular, but it's not anywhere close around what it has been. So yeah, hate on bitchsoft is justified. Enjoy the game that is actually totally not Fallout and enjoy giving more moneys to beth - that will assure them than no matter how bad/buggy their game is gonna be, it's gonna sell like crazy and have 90+ metacritic score.
Sad.
