Its difficult to speak on behalf of so many people, but I think its just because people generally like big games with lots of freedom and RPG mechanics, and that's what Bethesda tends to do fairly well on average...and there is almost no other company that can fund these types of games with such a large budget. Because Bethesda gets so much money, their games tend to become progressively larger, so the hype just tends to snowball with each release. In theory they also learn things from previous releases to make them better; I honestly feel Skyrim was a meaningful improvement over Oblivion and was genuinely fun to play. Just the generic idea of being plopped into a big world with lots of stuff to do, lots of loot and levels to gain, is generally appealing. I don't think it will be groundbreaking, and more than probably a little silly in many areas if FO3 was any indication, but because Bethesda has so much money its hard for them to make a bad game. Its going to have a lot of content and rewarding RPG mechanics, even if it probably won't be revolutionary or have as much depth as old-school roleplayers like. But then again you never know, Bethesda might surprise us! Some of the more childish reasons to be hyped is the idea of building a big neon sign with flames coming out of it, denoting the location of your settlement. Silly stuff like that which I referred to above ![]()

The previous fallout games are popular for their interesting worlds, characters, quirky writing and generally fun roleplaying experiences. Of course, you'll have people argue the merits of any individual game, as you'll see throughout this entire thread, but every game thus far has been very well-received in general and so many are excited for a new one.

I would have understood if its ES 6: Elsweyr... Guess Fallout 3 was more popular than i remember. Anyways, its a bethesda open world game, so i will probably like it, which is why ill play it tomorrow.

Still seems kind of odd that one can cross the entire Fallout 4 map in just 10 minutes... Great so we may have to preplan builds even before the first major patch... So... Guessing to stack up on Agility, Intelligence, some Charisma, and Perception for extra dmg and sprinkle the rest all over...? Wow.

The thing I dont like about fallout 4 is that it seems that its not fixing any of the problems that fallout 3 had (In fact it seems it will have more of them), and its bringing little new things that actually matter. We will see when its out ofc but IMHO fallout by bethesda is just elderscrolls in the future, where as fallout 1 and 2 were a different game all along. The thing that really bothers me is that fallout 3 is a game that has a lot of combat and the combat feels very casual to me. The weapons sound like toys (most of them) the aiming of your character is not the same as yours, there is no reaction from enemies most of them time when you shoot them, and you dont get that gratification as in F1 and F2 when fireing a big bad ass weapon. In F3 a minigun feels about as powerful as an assault rifle.... thats not fun. Thats ignoring the fact that everything I have seen so far screams console port.

The best way to buy all other Fallouts is one year later as GOTY edition plus a few community mods. Imo Vegas was decent with mods.

The best way to buy all other Fallouts is one year later as GOTY edition plus a few community mods. It's also hallufalot cheaper. 69€+29€ Seasonpass? For Real? I dont mind to play it Patched&Perfected. And I want to hear some of the music too. GOTY is like 20€. I loved FO3 for the Music and THREEEEEEEEDAAAAWG AAAAAAAAHOOOOOO aswell. Vegas radio was "Meh". Also i want to wait IF they allow mods. Steam has the brilliant ability to kill mods by unwanted "Updates" you can not disable (Steam overwrites modded files and kills your install)
