It's not like Skyrim had as interesting world to walk around in as Morrowind but it was pretty and interesting enough. There was enough things find and they felt fairly interesting to explore, plus there was the chance of finding words or dragons to kill. Oblivion every single dungeon felt almost the same (oh it's Aylid ruins again, oh it's another cave again) and there was never ever anything interesting in it because of loot leveling. FO3 and Vegas I mainly quit because my preferred play style is always thief if I can't be a crafter and it broke the game to hard. ![]()

That is a thought i share. For some reason, skyrim wasn't for me. Loved Morrowind, Oblivion was okayish (hated the autoscaling) - and i could never get into Skyrim for some reason. I think mainly it was the clunky UI, which i found ridiculously uncomfortable to use. Although, one shouldn't expect a Fallout 3-2. I assume Fallout 4 will be different, which is fine if done well. Mapsize doesn't really play into that, especially considering that it's considerably bigger than Fallout 3 and Skyrim. Just gimme stuff to find, things to look at. Details! edit: on a different note.. Anyone else here VPN-ing? Australia gets the game in roughly 11 hours.

It's really a shame that they are making fallout map even smaller (if the 10min) run across the entire map is possible. Some time past since i tested this but Skyrim was arround 30minutes or so, and Morrowind was arround 2 hours. One of the great things about Morrowind was how much you could cut that time down if you wanted to. With the boots of blinding speed + clothing with jump CE, the Silent Pilgrimage quest takes just a few minutes without any teleportation spells or scrolls.

Like, for instance, in my first attempt to play Skyrim, I entered a random building near Whiterun (I think it was some mead store?). Now I don't remember what exactly I did, but I somehow managed to make the owner hostile. I didn't mean to do that, and I definitely didn't attack him, I probably just wandered into the "private" section of the building or pushed some bottles off the shelf. It was a complete accident, but the owner just insisted on fighting me to the death. That alone is stupid enough. Why wouldn't he call the guard? Why wouldn't he tell me to leave or to pay him if I had broken something? But when I tried to defend myself it turned out he was invincible! He would go down when his health bar reached zero, but then just get up will full bar again and keep charging at me. Apparently he was important for a quest or something so he could not be killed. That's fine by me, but why the hell would you allow an invincible character not only to be attacked, but to attack the player first? Then, I randomly wandered around Whiterun and ran into some assholes in a cave that tried to rob me. I killed them, and found out that they had a horse. But I could only "steal" the damn horse so it would eventually magically disappear. How does that make any sense? Some fools attack you, you are forced to fight, and you cannot even help yourself to their possessions because they are magically flagged as "stolen". In my recent Fallout: NV playthrough, in the very beginning, I tried siding with the Powder Gangers or whatever they are called. When we were done shooting up the poor Goodsprings citizens, I shot all of the gangsters too. Then I went to their prison base and they were like "OK, we know you just fucking shot a dozen of us for no reason while laughing maniacally but since you had also helped us kill a couple of innocents you're fine. Please come in!". I come in and proceed to shoot everyone on sight. I keep getting those "good karma" messages apparently for wanton murder because they were the "bad" guys. Suddenly when I shoot a guy I get a pop-up message saying "so and so is dead". Out of curiosity, I reload. Oh, he was a good guy apparently. Who just sat there watching me murder everyone on sight like that was an obvious thing to do. I could even have a friendly chat with him afterwards. I then try to loot the place. Apparently, it is classified as stealing, and I lose karma. So, shooting people is good. Taking their shit isn't. Life lesson learned.

Combat sucks in Morrowind, but I don't remember it beeing very RNG oriented. Morrowind is 100% worth it, if you can manage to really delve into it's unique atmosphere. The lore is rich and the locations are very interesting. Also it doens't hold your hand, which is very different from RPG's nowadays.

I dunno that's the biggest criticism I read about Morrowind. I'll just get it and see for myself. A lot of people recommend it so I thought why not. I just want a deep immersive experience haha. http://www.twitch.tv/nervebag fo4 stream.

If i were you, i'd skip for now and save up for some bits and bobs. CPU should be fine, really - it's the GPU and your RAM that seems under par. You might be able to play it on min settings with occasional hickups, but.. Well, it'd look crap and if you're anything like me, you'd be annoyed quickly. Is it a i5 2500k? If so, it'll be powerful enough for pretty much all the things, if you got decent cooling (otherwise, pick up a cheap closed loop cooler, like a Hydro H60). GPU is overdue though, and RAM as well. 8gb is minimum really. For everything.

Save up for some RAM and a new GPU - 760s should be decently cheap by now i think, and would be enough for decent settings (medium i assume, considering they recommend a 780 with 4gb vram).

The stats you choose in the beginning of the game determine your character for the rest of it, so be prepared to start over a couple of times. Personally the fighting system never really bothered me all that much. It isn't great, but the atmosphere of the game more than makes up for its shortcomings.
