CS isn't even free and it's an extremely barebones client.
I'm not at all upset that a more polished game would cost 40$. I would actually prefer to pay to unlock all the playable content than have it behind microtransactions like HotS. DotA-style F2P model is obviously the most player-favorable but no developer besides Valve could commit to that, and Valve only did because they were basically guaranteed 95%+ of the DotA playerbase plus Steam being a thing.
Blizzard is being reasonable with their model for the game. I think there's actual sustainability in this model, especially if the gameplay is good and varied like it seems to be.

I love that they didn't make this f2p. I really hate that people assume that you have to pay for new maps/heroes. Why not just wait for more info?

Based on all available information (data mined achievement for owning 30 heroes, the benefits of telling the community straight up "you will never pay for new heroes or maps, only non gameplay elements, and general dodginess in answering the question) it's actually the only reasonable position to hold that Blizzard will try to monetize new heroes. It is ridiculous to suggest that the current 21 hero lineup will not be updated.

$40 is actually okay to me for this kind of game. There's two real issues:
1. Official sources are incredibly vague on future development of the game. The best case scenario in my mind is another $40 pseudo-expansion pack in a year or two like SC2 games
2. Some people will praise the price for being a barrier to entry for shitters but matchmaking will in fact take a hit when there are not enough players. Consider the problem with Heroes of the Storm matchmaking now diminish the population by a factor of ten and consider that scenario.

Hariooo dude, I don't think this game will be less popular than HotS "by a factor of ten".

I'll remind you that a Blizzard employee at Blizzcon apparently said future heroes will be free/included with the cost as well.
The concept of selling a map is silly as well. It really seems to be following the CoD / Battlefront model of cosmetic DLC's + up front purchase.

What's so difficult to understand in "all future heroes and maps will be free"?

rather spend 60 bucks on porn huehuehue

You see the government controls Actv/Bliz and the revenue from the additional heroes goes to fund the chemtrails that are dispersing agents into our water supply.
But I've said to much.

Hm. That Q&A was pretty underwhelming.

Any news about new game modes?
|
So, if you purchase the game right now, do you have access to the beta...?
|
Oh hey, Hakumen-guy is finally revealed. Surprised it took this long considering he's been in every promotional piece ever released for this game.
|
No you don't get access to beta by preordering.
Anyway, I'm disagree with the 40-60 dollar price tag hate. If you guys can find a better supported more interesting game for less, that's fine. But would I rather spend 0-20 dollars on a game like Battle Born, Dirty Bomb, Paladins, etc, these games are probably going to die out 2 years from now, if not far less, or spend 40-60 for a game that's going to have Blizzard support and already has a sizeable following/interest?
I'm going to side with Blizzard over Gearbox, every single time.
