Havnt played since early cata but back in the days plate armor was the most expensive to repair and cloth the least expensive. The difference was quite big. Warriors had to pay almost twice as much as mages, priests and warlocks to repair their gear.

goes to show how much gold has inflated since then. It went up by like a factor of 5 in TBC (though i might be off on that) and now, i can get 100k more easily than i could get 5k in TBC, people just seem to have infinite money.

Medallions are still selling for 7k and if you have 2 characters and an hour of time, you'll get ~2.65 of them a day (18.5k, easily 15k). The raw volume of players spending like 100k to jumpstart a rep that didn't actually do anything important to me was pretty surprising.

Well the people that have too much money irl and buy lots of gold have to spend it on something.
Some are probably trying to be the first to own certain mounts. I dont mind.

Regarding inflation, I think on can say that the value of 1 gold today equals the value of 1 silver in vanilla. Mabye a little less than 1 silver actually.

it's 1k garrison resources~ both of those are down to like 6-7k on my server now. I just got a coalfist gronnling though which should get me ~25k and i've got four of the fel pup things across 2 characters, giving me about 20k total from that too in the last ~4 weeks

Sadly the missions are pure RNG. With multiple characters since the start of WoD I havnt even seen the Gronnling one for example.

FYI you need character iLvl 675 to get the new garrison missions
