This way, they stop wasting people's time with the "queue -> dc." I think that would be a lot better than half-assing everything and pissing a lot of people who are waiting in queue only to be disconnected over and over again. They've done that several times, once when the servers were working near perfectly (and broke them again after maintenance) We’ll be performing unscheduled maintenance on all EU realms beginning at 7 am CEST in order to address issues with realm stability. We anticipate this process will last approximately 4 hours and appreciate your patience during this time. But I read at a website with no source given that they were offering free character transfers in the EU if you were on a full or high server, was this just BS or can I transfer off my FULL server (Stormscale)(full of only Horde lol). They've been offering free transfers off twisting nether (wowprogress says 99.5% horde, full pop with queues of >5k at 11:20pm) for a while.

They're having some unexpected issues partially related to big numbers of players in small areas of the game, they vastly lowered the amount of people that could be logged in at once to ensure that, numbers pulled out of ass, 5k people could have a good experience instead of 10k people who can't quest because it takes a minute and a half for mobs to phase in when they move 5 meters to one side. Having played as much as i have - you will probably prefer it that way, honestly other issues like character not found, well, everyone is having those. Big servers more often.

How are these issues unexpected? They made the garrisons, they designed the questing experience around them. Anyone with two braincells to rub together could have figured out what would happen. It's like putting soap in your car instead of gas and then being completely bewildered when it doesn't work. I can't imagine the people who made the actual expansion could be that fucking breathtakingly stupid. It would take a special kind of incompetence to make a system that heavily promotes a specific playstyle and then be caught completely unawares when it acts as a massive lodestone for players.

Funny enough the garrisons failing to load has been a serious problem for months on the Beta aswell. Every issue, from the lag to garrisons was a known factor.

It's like putting soap in your car instead of gas and then being completely bewildered when it doesn't work. It wasn't unexpected, the 2 big things AFAIK were the servers like twisting nether where horde outnumber alliance 200:1 and EVERYBODY was on the same quest - and a disproportionately high load when you have 2000 people in one zone, compared to having 2000 or even 3000 people more spread out on a continent I seem to recall after Burning Crusade a comment about how they made a mistake having only one entry zone, and that they wouldn't do it again. WOTLK and Cataclysm had two zones to start with, i didn't see WOTLK launch but cata went very smooth - i logged on cata the moment it hit, played for 12 hours and about 11 of that was lag free, normal day on this very same server. They obviously changed that with warlords, making one horde zone and one alliance zone. It seems to me like they are already extremely well aware that it was a bad and very expensive mistake, particularly for those servers like Twisting Nether, where by running one alliance zone and one horde zone on an expansion with no new race and class, you concentrate 99% of the players in an area of like 100 square meters.

I just finished the first zone (Frostwhatever) with the cutscene where you defend the canyon from the Iron Horde. I have to say, Blizzard has outdone themselves. The entire zone breathes atmosphere and you feel like you're actually part of the story and battle against the Iron Horde. Though the lag and phasing issues have ruined the immersion somewhat, I think this (expansion but at least the zone) is some of the finest work they've ever done in terms of zone design.

Every zone was gorgeous, and all but one was something I plan on doing numerous times (I really hated Talador while rushing my Priest yesterday, maybe it'll be more fun when all the far apart quests aren't really an "issue")
