Also, not too sure the game modes are a great upgrade from the original Star Wars Battlefront. The radar is completely useless as far as telling you map features compared to the original. Furthermore, I really liked the old spawn points, take and hold because while one battle could be focused on one part of the map, you could take a commando squad in and end run for sneaky tactics. The pod version is just everyone converging on one point on the map. Not much in the way of sneaky tactics. and are the only planning on 7 maps for multiplayer? They've got to be really confident that those maps will be good/ fun. Because there were 16 in the original, and a handful that really sucked. But with 16, you had enough to choose from that were actually good. custom games and private servers really need to be a thing. For balance reasons, it's obvious why they cap it at one partner, because I'd fucking steamroll every match if I had four friends on and could just leave one high up on the hill back in cover and spawn 3 on him over and over and over. I've honestly not played that stupid COD style pod match. I have zero interest in that. I am assuming (hoping?) there will be a capture point/flag style map similar to that in battlefield, where you can just go to the far flag where no one is and win the game using tactics rather than slamming yourhead into the meat grinder endlessly. If you are all in a party when you play (at least on console) it will say in the top left 'party joined game'. took a second to figure out at first but that seems to put you on the same team most times. The radar is a gigantic turd though. I agree there should be some depth to it, but it's not even good at being terribly accurate when someone fires. I think the one thing I can say about this game vs a lot of others set in space is that they've done a pretty good job with making the weapons and power ups fun, and they have a purpose too. Destiny and Halo have a lot of dumb shit boring weapons, and the best ones are the ones that fire bullets. In the future. I want lazers. Also whoever said the imploder is one of the best sounds in video games is 100% right.

gunplay is FUN, game seems to have some significant input lag overall but runs really easily. Old engine, effortless 150-160fps average on not even a flagship GPU just from disabling AO and turning shadows to medium. HP seems a little low, can mow down 3-5 people in literally 5 seconds using nothing but main gun without a reload if you get into a very lucky position and it's very hard for the person being shot to react, even 2v1. I played with a friend on voice and we were both on the recieving and dishing out side of 1v2 - 1v5 slaughterfests from that one guy who got behind the lines and didn't take their finger off LMB. card cooldowns seem a bit fast. A 9 second lethal grenade with no ammo, you can just throw one every 9 seconds? I get like 1 kill per minute with the thing without being any good at it, just by the fact that you can throw 6-7 of them. Also hard to dodge. i would like player health to be like 1.25x higher and card cooldowns increased by 1.25x at least, maybe revisit the spawning systems so that you can't instantly respawn onto a better position (or worse, randomly spawn into 4 enemies or 170 meters away from the objective on 8v8 map). Your card respawns carry over life to life partially to balance the instant respawn anywhere on the map that you have a friendly i guess, this feels good sometimes and really really bad at other times, for example using jetpack to escape only to die 0.1 seconds after the activation happened and now it's 2% of the way into the cooldown when you spawn on the other side of the map because your friend died a few seconds earlier. The cost - £90-95 (127 euros) for the game + launch announced DLC is extremely high and i don't feel that i'd be able to enjoy the game properly without paying that. By comparison a lot of my favourite games cost £20-40 and i would consider £45 to be super expensive AAA game.

Lack of a server browser/private servers and campaign is a big detriment as well. This game has/had potential but it all went in the classic EA direction.

Plus its EA, you never know when they close the servers.

I do think the non-partner spawning needs to be tweaked. I know def at the first cap, you can shred the rebels by hopping in the turret at the base on the right (looking up as empire). Apparently the game will spawn them closer if there's no enemies around or there's allies there, and turrets don't count as that lol. Really I'd just like it that each level there has three spawn locations and you can pick your own vs randomizing.

So what made Jedi Outcast MP brilliant was the things the developers didn't plan on and didn't have in mind when designing the game. they just presented a bunch of tools, that were broken and OP by themselves and the players found a way how to use them the best. The videos LucasArts made when showcasing the MP and the way they played it is worlds, and I mean WORLDS different than what the players came up later. Also it took like 3 years for the gameplay and playstyles to develop to what they are today. It was a huge accident that the game (MP) turned out to be as brilliant as it is and all thanks to the tools that allowed much freedom and creativity to the players. Even if a player is namehiding I can tell in 30 sec who it is just by his playstyle (I can do this for at least 70 players). It was impossible to design the game as it is. There is just no way. Jedi Academy however limited the tools for the players by a huge margin so the game didnt turn up to be anywhere as complex or fun as the prequel. The designers also didn't luck out on some bugs/mechanics as like what happened in Jedi Outcast so there's that aswell. The MP in that game developed to be only saber fight, no force powers (where force powers made 80% of the fights in JK2), so you can imagine how we JK2 enthusiasts felt. It is still a great game and you can't blame the designers for not achieving the complexity of it predecessor because as I said, you simply cant design or have in mind while designing the things that made JK2 great. This is what i think the biggest problem of SC2. The designers just controlled every aspect of the game to much and forced the game to play out a very specific way that they envisioned, removing anything that didnt't fit the vision, basically limiting the tools for the players. They also shot themselves in the foot by some really bad game/engine design (imo) like the pathing, bad social features, and generally how every unit "feels" the same. BW was great exactly because of the bugs and mechanics the designers didn't account for but the problem is, you can't really replicate that. So yeah... From what I see in your videos I still prefer the no-powers style of dueling. Saber fights in JA (and I'd guess in JK2 because surely it didn't change for the worse) are exactly the emergent gameplay you describe in my opinion. At least that's how I felt. A lot of what dueling was revolved around subtle tricks in distance, timings, chaining of attacks, attack delaying with jump, abuse of glitches (the "poke" and "spin" hahaha, and tuning of various network options...), super fast style switching, most of which were probably unintended by the design and dev team.

Don't know if your sarcastic but that's EXACTLY what I want in a game. ![]() Makes dota hard to play sometimes but hey what can you do. Had to stop playing Starcraft after I started working, 8 hours of work + extra studying/projects at home means the pressure from a 1v1 in SC is just painful.

One good thing is my friends are starting to play the original Star Wars Battlefront again. (Multiplayer on Lenova computers is terrible, but we have less Lenova's now.)

http://www.mediamag.net/rubriken/gaming/star-wars-battlefront-id128.html Basicly the german electronics-discounter "MediaMarkt" tries to advertise "Battlefront". To push the game they used the well known german Sc2 Terranplayer Gabriel " ![]() The text is super stupid. They claim HeroMarine to be an "SciFi Space Battle Videogame Expert" despite not playing FPS but "Starkraft II" a strategy title. :D

- they wiped the Lan mode to make pirating harder - they wiped third party content to sell you the right to access the content already on your HDD for 15€ a Map and 10€ a set of skins - they wiped the possibility to run your very own server, all you can do is rent one for stupidly high prices - they force you to use Battlelog ( Battlelog actually logs your Webbrowsing while active and sends it to EA for....."research" and better user experience) And sadly people still buy this shit. Next thing is that they will charge you a monthly fee of 7.5€ to play the expansion for the next Movie, which at 29.99€ comes extra cheap and contains 2 new maps (1map reused from BF enabling Ewokhunt on tatooine)
