The mobile market has utterly destroyed the home console market which is why these companies are trying to sell you "all in one media centers" instead of gaming consoles. They can't compete with angry birds and they know it. | ||

But sure, in terms of handheld, Nintendo crushes everyone. It is absolutely in competition with Wii/xbox/PS3. When you're looking to develop an IP (new or sequel) you're going to look at EVERYTHING. And in this generation, developing for the DS (or even cell phone) meant a fraction of the budget with an order of magnitude greater user base. And, like I said in my first post, that's exactly why consoles aren't gaming machines anymore. Pure gaming has moved to the handheld market and even that's being gobbled up by Android and iOS. You can ignore those segments of the market if you'd like but they are affecting the console market in tremendous ways. And it's a big reason we end up with these shit shows of console reveals. | ||
