I would normally think something like this is a joke, but it links directly to the Congressman's website. The best part is it has bi-partisan support right from the get go.

Microsoft had a tough time selling gamers on the Xbox One and its (almost) always-on Kinect sensor during last week’s E3 Expo. This week, a pair of US Representatives want to block the monitoring features of the next-generation console before it’s even released.
Rep. Mike Capuano (D-MA) and Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) introduced the “We Are Watching You Act” last week in order to protect the privacy of consumers from DVR boxes (or similar devices) that include built-in cameras and microphones. Verizon, who provides the popular FiOS service, filed a patent application for a DVR with video and audio monitoring capabilities in 2012. But, at this point, it’s unknown if they have such a DVR in development. So for now, the “We Are Watching You Act” is strictly an anti-Xbox One bill as the system’s Kinect sensor is the only device that meets the qualifications of the bill.
The “We Are Watching You Act” would prohibit companies from marketing this kind of monitoring DVR (or Kinect sensor) without first offering consumers the chance to opt-in to the service. The DVR/Kinect operator must also “provide specific details on how collected information will be used and who will have access to the data.” If you do chose to opt-in, when the device is recording it will display “WE ARE WATCHING YOU” in a font “large enough to be readable from a distance.”
While that kind of message might kill the immersive feel of a round of Killer Instinct, it might help with Watch Dogs.
And here’s where it gets messy. The bill would require manufacturers who sell devices that monitor consumers to create a similar device, without monitoring capability, and offer that as well, thus creating two tiers of Xbox One hardware. Rep. Capuano’s statement, and the full text of the bill, can be found at his official website.

Even with the kinect attached Microsoft could still sell their console at a profit at 399. The PS4 can't really drop it's price much sense Sony doesn't have the cash to support selling at a loss and the PS4 profit margins per console is razor thin so what happens if in 3 6 months after the ps4 release, microsoft just drops the price to 399 or 349. Which could happen if all this xbox1 hate is to be actually followed though.
Microsoft is pushing quite hard to put a HTPC in the living room. If a smartglass device sold with the XB1 they could have something there, really you would have pretty much a computer hooked up to your tv in the living room with an okay mouse/keyboard to navigate with. Supplemented with voice commands. The kinect is part of that plan just off of simple commands be it body or voice. There is no way MS can drop its price to 399 let alone 349 not with Kinect bundle in. Do you honestly believe that MS and Sony doing business by guessing each other's price? They know exactly what there opponent is going to sell for. MS knew or at least have a very good idea on how much PS4 is gonna sell but they take the risk.
Not 100% accurate. Jack Tretton went on record saying they actually did not know the pricing of the box and were actually very worried that Microsoft would have theirs priced the same as the Playstation 4. One of the main reasons for the worry was their inability to go down to $349.99. So at the time of E3, Sony did not know the price of box.

This feels like a knee-jerk reaction but understandable. The one part I do not like is the idea of the display on screen. I think being more informed is good but the enforcement of displaying is overkill. But still, I do not see that actually occurring but it does show peoples worry over the kinect.

That is one of the most ridiculous bills I have ever seen. I could definitely get behind the first portion with no problem but requiring MS to make a second product that doesn't monitor you and also requiring a message that shows up on screen is absolutely dumb.
Allow people to decide if they want it or not. Make them agree to certain terms like other products require but what they are putting forward is absolutely ridiculous. If you don't want Kinect then there is an easy way around it, don't buy an Xbox One. No one is forcing anyone to buy an Xbox One, if people realized this, a lot of this absurdity would be alleviated.

I know microsoft aren't the only scumbags manipulating shit like this but it really makes me fucking sick lol, disgusting.

GF and I just searched it and those weren't the results. We had on google: Xbox one is... Terrible, bad, garbage, and stupid.
Bing said: ugly , terrible, going to fail, watching you, crap, doomed, awesome, going to be free.
In that order. The best one is "watching you...crap"
I thought these were search engines, not statement engines?
Edit: The xbox one = amazing. Xbox one = all the shit I wrote above. Amazing how much word word changes things.

Hmm I am not sure because I never use bing (ever) and I got this.
+ Show Spoiler +
Oh and I also did it in bing for the Playstation 4 and it came up with...
...is no game changer ...is it real ... coming out ... better than xbox ...is out.
Which shows me that either there are very few fans of Xbox one out there that will troll Playstation 4 or they are incredibly boring and came out with nothing fun.

Put the word "the" in the beginning. The only result you'll see is "The xbox one is amazing."

Eh that is not such a big deal then. To me, it just means 'the' is hardly ever used hence no other one came up. If one makes, "the playstation 4 is..." nothing even comes up.

It's not that, it's bing specifically filtering. I doubt out of hundreds of thousands of searches people only searched "the xbox one is amazing," but not any other adjective. And that not a single person searched "the playstation 4" but thousands of people searched "playstation 4."

Basically it's all based on this quote "When we asked whether the company's planning on offering support in the future, he only offered a "No comment" with a big smile.". It doesn't mean anything. A lot of interesting things are coming up on PC though, I hope they'll manage to bring virtual reality to the mass marcket.

It is not quite simple as filtering--it is not based on a single search but a large number of searches. That is how people in the past have actually intentionally exploited the search engines to change the filtering and even the autofill. Sure, it is suspicious that both with and without 'the' showed up as awesome but it was either a knee-jerk reaction by fanbois (which is possible) or they simply added it themselves. The other things like Playstation showing up for one and not another is based on the actual searches.
I am sure if we were able to even look at the amount of searches with and without "the", the ones without "the" would be far more prominent. I just do not foresee the a major portion of people using 'the' since it is partially irrelevant (although important for certain entities).

What's really weird is I tested it after the initial post, and it was the same as the screenshot 'xbox one is awesome'. I just tried it again and I get ugly, terrible, etc. with awesome being like 5th guess.
SHENANIGANS! :D
edit; nevermind it's all about the inclusion of the word 'the', thanks poster above!

Of course it doesn't mean anything but you can bet your ass if the Rift will be supported by PS4 or any other system once it hits the mass market and the demand for it is big enough. It would be stupid to commit before the product is fully ready .
Right now the focus is on the release of the console itsself and getting it 100% ready for launch .

Microsoft to Pull Complete Reversal on Xbox One DRM Policies
Sources indicate Microsoft is going to move away from what's caused the company so much headache. The tug-of-war between Microsoft and Sony just got more interesting. Multiple sources inform me Microsoft will announce what amounts to a complete reversal on its DRM policies for Xbox One today.
What does this mean?
No more always online requirement The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360 An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs Region locks have been dropped

Methinks that all of the recent military outrage is the straw that broke the camels back. Being "against the troops" is a pr nightmare.

I really cant believe that Microsoft would do such a turn around. Remove some of the features sure, but all of them? I really don't think so. I mean the damage is already kinda done with the horrendous pr job they did. I would however be very happy if it is true, then I could get one to play the exclusive games that I want to play

Well, this all thing just got a lot more interesting.

It's a reasonable move by Microsoft if true. They did what they did because they thought they'd get away with it, not because it was necessary.
