Hell on EQ we raided and it was way more painful to do it. You will always have people to do it.
There are also 20man, you don't get the same loot, but if you are not doing 40man, you don't need it anyways.
It's not really about "needing the loot", it's about is there going to be new content in the game to keep me entertained, or is my subscription paying for new content I will never see? If they add sufficient new PvP content, dungeons and 20 man raids then great. If not, then I move on and that's fine too.
The game shouldn't change 40 man for me. Other games have done 40 man raiding successfully in the past, and if this one can do it successfully too that's great. Just keep in mind that compared to EQ and Vanilla WoW, there are a ton more alternative MMO's that don't require getting 40 people together for 6+ hours of the right classes who are properly geared, attuned and competent, so expecting all the non-40 man raiders to stick around long term without sufficient new content seems unrealistic. My comment was more directed to people wondering what the possible negatives for the game are. If you aren't a 40 man raider, it's a concern to be aware of. If you love 40 man raiding it's something to be excited for.

If there are any spare NA trial keys, I'd like to be kept in the running! Thanks in advance for the consideration!
Anyone here have a house/yard they'd like to share? I'd love to see some screens of what people have put together with the tools available.

If anybody needs to lose a trial key, I wouldn't mind trying this game out. Thanks!

Is there anything to boost XP gain? I'm lvl 23 and it's slow as hell atm. PvP doesn't give nearly as much after the recent patch.

Also, if you're from wow, remember the cap is 50, so the progression is logically slower than if it were 60-90.

Here are my two extra passes:

I really hope they up that cap in the future but right now I'm only level 13 SS so I don't have much to worry about

What you are missing, as i said before, is the loot. That's why i asked if your concern is the loot, because i can't think of anything else that you would be missing outside what you don't want to experience (40man are awesome, just knowing that most fights are just C'thun like by definition makes me wet).
Most people that talk about 40 man on WoW vanilla like 30 tryhards - 10 leechers (or whatever percent you want), didn't even get to play them as they were released, so i don't need to tell you further that you don't really understand the difference on accomplishment that gathering and coordinating 40 guys is to 20-25, neither the community that it forms and the impact it has on community driven policies when it comes to the server, since normally there are only a few guilds on each server that make the released content possible.

40 mans and 20 mans aren't the same though. Genetic Archives is a 20-man instance, while Datascape is a 40-man raid available only once you've cleared Genetic Archives. There is no 20 man version of the 40 man content, they are completely different. So like I said the gear aspect matters much less than the "will there be enough non-40 man content for me to not be bored?". Even if there isn't I imagine I will get enough game time in before I get bored to get my money's worth.
I've done C'thun, I know what difficult content 40 man content was in WoW. I wish I still had time to do that sort of thing, unfortunately I no longer have that much free time on a set schedule. I hope Wildstar works out great for all the people who do. Obviously they are going to add more 40 man content in the future that I will pay for even though I probably won't ever get to do it and I will be fine with that if they add enough other stuff that I am able to do. If they don't I will move on and that's fine too. I'm not trying to convince anyone that they should change the game from 40 man raiding. I'm simply stating that if you are thinking about buying the game and you aren't going to be doing the 40 man content for whatever reason, it's something to think about.

My bad then about the 20/40 man raids. I was under a wrong assumption then.
The circles option exists so little guilds join up to attempt 40 man, but it is the focus of the game. Yes i do agree, that if you do not want to do 40 man, and you would feel frustrated for not being able to enjoy that content in a smaller scale you won't be satisfied.
As a side note, i don't have the time either like the old times, but you never really needed a 24/7 player for 40 man. Just good, mind alike players who could show up for several hours of continued raiding. My guild cleared most of WoW vanilla fast because we were hardcore about it, but other guilds that only raided 3-4 days a week, for 2-3 hours made decent progress quite fast, contrary to popular beliefs that only no lifers could do it.
|
We'll see how difficult the end game stuff really is. All the talk I have heard makes it sound like even the hard core guilds who do have hardcore players capable of 8 + hours of consecutive raiding time will be struggling thru the first 2 raids, and from what I have read all the trash respawns on a 4 hour timer, making it even harder to just do a few hours then do more later in the week. Anyway, I'm sure it will be awesome for people looking to recapture the old 40 man challenge of vanilla WoW and ideally they will have enough pvp and other stuff to keep everyone else happy too.

I think all this skepticism can be layed to rest knowing that most of you are huge BW Fans and knowing this from Wikipedia
WildStar development started in 2005, after 17 former members of Blizzard Entertainment founded Carbine Studios. At the time, the seventeen former members of Blizzard Entertainment had a desire to "do anything but WoW",[28] "In fact, most were excited and overjoyed to try and start over, this time, not making the same mistakes that might have been made before." When confronted with the decision of a game engine, the company first looked at off-the-shelf options. Although multiple engines were available for use, the team found that none of them suited their needs, to be able to scale well five years into the future. Eventually, the team decided it would be best for them to create their own, allowing them complete freedom.[

I'm not entirely sure you read that correctly. Are you implying the Brood War team made WildStar? Because that's not the case at all. WildStar was started by a lot of the team that made vanilla World of Warcraft, not Brood War.

Would love an EU trial key if anyone has any left over.
|
Would also like to try it, my university is done for the next 3 months. And before I subscribe to WoW again (and later regret), I wanna know if this game runs decently on my PC (and if it's worth it of course).

Would love to try this out aswell.
If anyone has a spare EU key available, I would very much appreciate it .
