I don't understand why they haven't attempted ANY form of negotiation with ANY of their assailants. At least ask what their business is before blasting them with lightning?

I'm pretty sure they have from time to time. But a lot of Neal's characters are pretty stubborn. Could be wrong though. Even beyond enemies, a lot of NPC's seem rather unhelpful. On the otherhand, the party has left a wake of destruction from the start.
