What is the difference between normal attack and raid?
Normal attack is an attack where the battle does not end until all of one side’s forces are eliminated. In a raid, both sides essentially hit once, and the attacker retreats. The result is less casualties on both sides. You steal the same amount of resources in both types of attacks.
How come my crop production is decreasing?
The crop production shown under “Production:” is your net crop production. At the top of the page, where how much of each of the 4 resources you have are shown, is a crop icon with a red X on it. That shows your crop usage/production. So if it was 80/100, it means that your crop fields are producing 100 crop every hour, but you are using 80 crop every hour. Your net crop production is 20.
What uses crop? When you construct or upgrade a building, or train a unit, the crop icon with the red X shows you that building/unit’s crop usage per hour.
What counts towards population?
For buildings, the crop usage of the building is equal to the population it gives. Units do not count towards population.
Is it possible to get negative crop production? What happens if you get to 0 crop?
Yes, negative crop production is possible, and is a good thing if you’re active. When you get to 0 crop with a negative crop production, your units start dying. When a unit dies due to crop shortage, he will leave half the crop it cost to train that unit. For example, a clubswinger costs 40 crop to train, so if it dies to crop shortage you will gain 20 crop.

Should I get a wall?
Roman walls give 3% defense per level. Gauls 2.5%. Teutons 2%. However, Teuton walls are the strongest, and require more rams to destroy than Roman or Gaul walls. You don't need a wall unless you have been attacked and/or are expecting to be attacked.
What’s the difference between a Palace and a Residence?
You can only have 1 Palace. If you have under 4 villages, then the palace cannot be destroyed, and thus that village cannot be conquered. A Palace allows you to make 3 settlers or a senator/chief at levels 10, 15, and 20. A residence allows you to make 3 settlers or a senator/chief at levels 10 and 20. A Palace is more expensive. A Palace gives a defense bonus.
Should I upgrade my Barracks?
If you can keep your Barracks running 24/7, you should upgrade it. If you can’t, then don’t upgrade it.
Help, I am being attacked, what should I do?
Make a post in your alliance forums, telling us who attacked you and with what (if he already attacked you). In most cases, you should dodge the attack by sending you troops away when he comes. Meanwhile, spend all your resources and build/upgrade your cranny. If you haven’t done so already, build an embassy and join a TL alliance.
Can resources for sale on the market be raided and stolen?
Yes.
When should I get flour mill?
L1 mill: 1 fields L5, 5 L6
L2 mill: 3 fields L6, 3 fields L7
L3 mill: 1 field L7, 5 fields L8
L4 mill: 5 fields L9, 1 field L10
L5 mill: 5 fields L9, 1 field L10
At L5 mill, immediately upgrade bakery to L4
Does my newb protection end if I attack someone before 7 days is up?
No.
How does scouting work?
Each race has a scout unit. If you attack a village with a scout, you can choose to see either:
1. Their defences (wall and palace/residence levels), and troops currently stationed in the village, including reinforcements.
OR
2. Their current resouces, which includes those protected by crannies, and troops currently stationed in the village, including reinforcements.
If you scout a village without taking any casualties, the village you scouted will NOT know that you have scouted them. If you take 1 or more casualties, they will get a report and know that you have scouted them.
Scouts are the only defense against scouts. Generally, if you scout a village with more scouts than the defending village has, your scout will be successful since the defending village will not be able to kill all your scouts. Although defending scouts can kill the attacker's scouts, the attacker's scouts can never kill the defending scouts.
When you scout a village, you cannot send other units with the scouts. If you do, then you won't be able to scout anything, and the scouts are treated as attacking units with 0 attack.
