Hoi3 has some of my most epic gaming experiences but it had so much shitty micro management with having to put in a hour of decent work organizing your army and leaders at the start. after that it got pretty good and was really fun but I always really didn't like that initial investment I had to do.

Hoi3 has some of my most epic gaming experiences but it had so much shitty micro management with having to put in a hour of decent work organizing your army and leaders at the start. after that it got pretty good and was really fun but I always really didn't like that initial investment I had to do. my one main quibble is that I agree that +AT is better early game but isn't too useful later at 1500, if you're a land power, you should be at 80+ AT with or without that idea. in any large scale war more then half of my army becomes mercs as time goes on. the last thing you want is to suffer manpower lose's during sieges when you have no manpower. reinforcing units is costly so just let them refill a month or 3 and then combine the rest replacing the remainder with mercs yeah, I spam mercs to replace losses as well and have been using the consolidate command more often lately. my main strategy is to let my allies to the heavy lifting and I do the sieging. This is particularly funny to do against the Ottoman / Crimea alliance, watch as your PL and Burgundian allies die in the Crimea as you siege up all of Greece, then when the Ottoman stacks come south, run across the strait and force them to take the -2 if they want to defend Anatolia. an extra seige pip is much rarer then either shock and fire not disagreeing but I almost don't think that high siege is as valuable as a high fire/shock general, the only way to speed up sieges substantially requires a lot of micro (you can get him to bonus 3-5 sieges at once depending on timers) and I'm lazy Were supply limits nerfed in 1.4 or something? I rarely see AI armies take above 2% attrition when regularly traveling, unless you're fighting in Lithuania / Russia.

Then again I don't really have any idea what I'm doing other then playing a bit of ironman here and there. Do you guys just leave wrong culture/wrong religion provinces as they are and rely on your army to kill the rebels? I just find it really annoying to have provinces randomly spawning religious rebels if i can avoid it, and it's basically impossible to convert sunni's without religious ideas. Also what was the status on the multiplayer game? I'd be up for it if it happened during evening/night europe time (or weekend.)

I prefer diplo -> offensive -> religious as my standard first 3, so you unlock religious a little bit after the reformation hits which is quite nice especially if you want to remain catholic as it gives a MTTH multiplier of 3 to the "flip protestant" event.

Yes, but the generator itself is shitty. There is a user made one which generates quite good maps. Well, outstanding ones, compared to the PDS's one. Search the mod subforum.

it seems like war subsidies can be taxed via colonial nation tariffs...I'm not clear on how exactly it works. something involving repeatedly giving and cancelling war subsidies + having 100%+ colonial tariffs, which means the colonial nation is paying you more than what you are sending them. was looking at one of his playthroughs and he was getting 20k+ d/month from tariffs as 1540s Aztecs

Even worse, as New Portugal now does not suffer from the manpower and income penalties of overseas region anymore, they are a nation with 44 full income provinces and, in my case, almost completely stocked with + forcelimits buildings. I haven't seen what kind of forcelimit they get from this, but it's gonna be so fucking massive that my own troops are going to be completely dwarfed by it. And that's only chessapeake bay. Take all the colonial nations that were just built, and in 10 years there will be about 1000000 men in the americas and about 1500 tradeships to actually protect the trade nodes. And they all have my techgroup, so i won't see any treade income from about 170 of my provinces. And if the AI is effectively fighting your wars with you, it will just completely destroy europe. So either this makes american colonies completely worthless or it makes you the most overpowered force on the planet. Either way it's a stupid design decision. Or am i missing a detail here that suddenly makes this balaced again.

Ideally I can sustain a long war against Portugal / Castile by killing their forces upon landing and AI is hilariously bad with colonies so I can keep seizing them I like vassalizing granada then carving up algiers in some wars. Castille and portugal should be manageable after 2-3 wars when you got enough to kill off their fleets and granada is a nice base for invasion into the iberian peninsula.
