It's still very early on though (1495) and so far what I've done is disenherit Enrique the throne, followed backstabbing Portugal, getting the Iberian Wedding in my favor, taken some land in northern Africa and now preparing for exploring the (random) new world. Oh, and my ruler is now part of the house of Habsburg, since ruler and heir died while I had a royal marriage with Austria

Also note that the institutions are independent from each other except for renaissance which requires you to have embraced feudalism

I don't get the idea of institutions slowing down technology, does it have a historical basis?

Leader Traits: + Show Spoiler + Improves warfare dynamics. Coupled with the fact that you can have 4 leaders without upkeep fairly easily ( 25 power projection + feudalism ) varied army compositions become far more viable. The traits are basically just stack specific stat modifiers that better determines what the stack assigned to a leader will be doing. Some of traits include: Hardy Warrior: -20% Attrition - Useful for siege stacks or main armies that will be covering a lot of ground through high attrition environments. I bet Napoleon wished he had this. Siege Specialist: +15% Siege Ability - Amazing for siege stacks, but completely useless for main armies. +33% Reinforcement Speed - Makes a strong army even harder to kill. Get 33% more of your army back after a huge engagement. I'm interested to see what the best usage for this would be. Born to the Saddle: +50% Cavalry Flanking Range - This one is interesting. It should help cav fall off less towards lategame. Plus if Poland gets this I'm envisioning Ultralisk like Hussars cleaving through the enemy. Goal Orientated:+10% Movement Speed - Your enemies will never escape you. Combined with high maneuver you dictate all the positioning. Queen/King Consorts and Consort-Regencies: + Show Spoiler + I hate regencies. This gives you less of them. Plus the events related to consorts help add some character and narrative to the game. Great Power mechanics: + Show Spoiler + I love these. If you ever want to influence the politics of the world without actually attacking these help. In my current game, I bought out the affection of half the electors to become emperor on a whim. Side note: + Show Spoiler + With the amount of leaders were able to get now I hope Paradox removes leader's ability to instantly teleport between stacks in friendly territory and they're complete inability to do so in enemy territory. I would much rather see a system where leaders can always be reassigned if the army is adjacent to a friendly or occupied province via some sort of redeployment travel time. What do you guys think? Also, would anyone be down for organized multiplayer sessions?

I usually like seeing a strong Castille as it helps keep France in check. I finally ended up getting Mare Nostrum as France, seems to me like it'd be an easy union on both Castile/Aragon/Naples after the new patch. Also seems to me that integrating goes a lot faster now but im not sure. I was able to integrate Aragon and Naples within 10 years or less
