Correct, you can get the patch from steam. Just right-click on EU4 in your library, go to properties->betas and select 1.13.

Did thy change something about manpower or is it the fault of the new fort system. I do seem to lose alot more manpower than before. Sure, it needs more men and I feel like it takes longer to siege a fort but still even in "easy wars" where I dont really lose a fight my manpower burn down really fast. And I do look out a little bit for harsh winters etc.

You don't lose more man power but you used to get more mp with military techs. They deleted that.

So, seems like they get rif of no AE for reconquests? I destroyed France in my first war and it spiraled out of control, leaving them a one province minor. Which got of course vassalized by me, but now if i try to give them their cores back, it will still generate AE. If i give them the cores directly in the peacedeal, there is no modifier at all, if i return cores, i still get about .6x standard AE. Was it that was always or did they change that? Or am i making it wrong? :D

Returning cores to Vassals now gives you AE. The CB is useless/broken in 1.12, but the AE has been reduced a bit in 1.13.

Anyone else got that moment where you sit on of the best defensive positions in the game, Messina or something of that caliber, and you have that high maneuver general just waiting for the stack twice your size to take the crossing. But, your vassal, useful as always yells "I got this, my lord!" and blockades the fucking strait. Makes me wanna yell back: "Instead, i have a mill!"

Anyways, thanks for the clarification on reconquest

Super easy in 1.12, the fact that looting works again and you get money from every freaking minor state you annex leaves you at a lot of money. The new building system wouldnt work at all else. Forts are still terrible in 1.12 imo though.

What are you gonna do with all your money then? I usually built all the buildings possible in the provinces.

Playing in Italy and choosing to stay in the HRE, I got a nice +3% unrest country modifier, that's new in 1.13, right?

No, the event asking you if you want to leave the HRE was new in 1.12 and it is +3 unrest, -1 prestige/year, + some stability cost as a triggered modifier, which seems to only go away if you form Italy, become emperor or leave the empire.

that was already removed in 1.12 although they did improve the imperial reforms to compensate.

Just checked the EU wiki, seems like the "submission to the emperor" modifier was indeed added with the 1.13 beta. ugh.

I finished a couple of ironman games finally.

Prussia with full quantity, quality, offensive, and defensive is pretty scary. I beat Austria, France, Aragon, the Pope and Russia by myself in a war over Austria's throne around 1800. Had a pretty dope colonial nation in Canada as well!

Has anyone else noticed how much more the AI tends to colonize in 1 region in this patch? I've been seeing whole colonial regions go to a single nation without any interference. In my Prussia game Portugal took every single province in colonial Mexico completely unopposed.

Okay, i think i need some inspiration I wanted to do my first serious world conquest run this weekend. Plan was to stio colonisation as quick as possible, take over the HRE and then steamroll over the rest. So i picked Castille and it went decent, but i think i am stuck already. I declared on France as my opening, getting them to collapse later on the onslaught of everyone taking bites out of them, then finished the recoquista. Next step was getting to england, which took me 3 wars with them and a looooot of stupidity of the AI. Portugal was sacrificed as an ally along the way and Aragon and Naples were annexed after the iberian wedding. At 1610, Spain was holding England and Scotland, 3/4 of France, some provinces in Marocco/Algier and some land in western africa. The problem is, the HRE just survived the protestant league and kicked my 3 elector buddies out of the countryclub, and it seems like i can't diplomatically take the HRE. I tied the emperor 3 times in votes but i was never able to get the fourth and now i doubt i will without getting everyone really pissed. It would also take a lot of time again and i have lost soooo much already. Ithought about changing to protestantism, but honestly being catholic is so gud because of the papacy when you convert the whole world.

So, if i tried again, my plan for the second run would be to cripple france again, then concentrate on england and portugal and then try to become emperor asap. not start with administrative tech and instead go for diplomatic or influential, as soon as i am emperor, take france and whenever i can not to anything, rampage a bit through africa, but leave marocco alone, the increased coring cost is not sustainable at the start. Any tricks how to acieve these things fast(er)?
