And that's not what Battlefield should be about Thought BF was supposed to be about vehicles. O_o Do you mean a mix of both is best? Viability for infantry and vehicles? The Battlefield games have always been at their best, when every playstyle is viable, yes. While of course a certain degree of variation to keep everyone fresh in their head is good, extreme maps like these Chinese DLC maps won't last. But that won't be a long term problem, because there's some good maps in BF4 Vanilla and Caspian Border's soon to be playable.
Just play an engineer. No map balance issues. Too many vehicles? You have rockets. Snipers? Use a DMR. I have like 5x as many points on engineer as any other class. And almost 350 vehicle kills. The fact that you can use another classes subweapon makes "map balance" a lot easier.

Are SLAMs worth it in those heavy vehicle maps?
I feel like they should be, but they might be a bit redundant to the mine/C4...

M2 SLAM is borderline overpowered and a fantastic anti armor tool. They are really hard to spot, splash and can even be placed so that they are unspottable, its basically a c4 trap that detonates by itself. They have a huge detonation radius (6m i think) and deal a good ammount of damage. Unlike mines they can be thrown and they stick to vertical surfaces and vehicles. The downside is that they can be destroyed by small arms fire but its not a huge disadvantage. I take SLAMS over Mines everyday its not even close. Also you can equip mines AND slams at the same time to be able to put down 6 (or even 12 with the AT perk tree) "mines" at the same time. A squad of M2/Mine engineers with the AT perk can put down 60(!) mines and literally make half the map inaccessible for enemy armor when placed smartly.
|
This is not to mention the fact that minefields in general are even more annoying to deal with in BF4 than BF3, now that armor has a much more limited ammo supply. Wasting shots to take out mines may cost you an encounter with enemy armor in the near future if you're not careful.

hope you guys all logged in and played a round to get 1911 3x scope

Tried I guess, but seeing as they're having issues delivering something as simple as that as well we won't really know if their vague criteria for the reward was met.

Still waiting for this game to be fixed, judging from the posts here they atleast fixed the qbu-88 bug my friend and I found but it still seems to be broken as in DCs every other game?
Guess I'll be playing more starbound /waiting till game is fixed

When are you DC'ing? I haven't had DC issues in roughly a month when I figured out to stop spam clicking respawn.

I did, but I couldn't tell you if I actually GOT the scope or not. 1911 not unlocked yet, and there's no indication whatsoever that I received it.

They say on the front blog that you must have it unlocked.
|
Where does it say it has to be unlocked? The post has no mention of that.

Gotta play freakin' pistol only games just to get my pistol and scope.

Nice patch DICE! Haven't had crashes for weeks, download the "patch" and I CAN'T EVEN JOIN A SERVER.
God this game is just something else...
|
Don't understand how so many people are having issues. How can the performance still be varying this much? I have had no issue with it since about a week after release. Guess I'm just lucky.

On any map with boats, put slams in the water along the path they normally take. So near A if you are US on hainaan resort. You will rack up the kills. One of my favourite things to do is to actually run AT engi, so I get stingers or SMAW and then slams with the AT engineer class. Very very fun!

Played a bit of Air Superiority. It's fun, but feels a bit lackluster. I found myself gaining more points faster through capping then attacking enemies.
|
Air superiority is just badly designed, and also was in BF3. The absolute only way it can remotely work is if the only thing allowed are the jet main guns and something like ECM to take yourself off air radar for a handful of seconds.
If anything else, in pubs, it simply turns in to a bunch of retarded autolocking missile spam in the form of active radar missiles in BF4. In BF3 we just had scrubs running beam scanning/heatseekers galore instead.

is active radar missiles better???
