With PS2 free to play I see no reason for anyone to ever buy another PC FPS game. Battlefield is becoming like CoD, same game rereleased as a new game annually.

It has been confirmed that DICE will show off BF4 at GDC on March 26th

Eh. Only thing I can imagine this being is that they're just bringing BF3 to the PS4/Xbox720 with support for 64 players and non-gimped graphics. Then they'll throw in brand new maps and a new faction (China?) which warrants it as being BF4 rather than 3.

Oh god... at this rate they'll end up with releasing battlefield annually in a couple of years...
While the time between BF2 and 3 was rather long, I prefer that over BF turning into CoD with tanks.
|
BF3 was a lot of fun. If only they didn't kill the game by launching DLC 2 weeks after release.
Honestly, I know EA sometimes cop more than what is due but that was one of their biggest acts of douchbaggery.

If you include bad company they've actually been doing annual releases for a while.

Yeah, we had:
Bad Company 2008 Battlefield Heroes 2009 Battlefield 1943 2009 Bad Company 2 2010 Bad Company 2: Vietnam 2010 Battlefield 3 2011
Yeah, some of the games aren't full games, but they are still Battlefield games made by DICE nonetheless.

Well at least bf4 is coming out a couple years after bf3 and not in 2012. Although this thread when I saw it bumped up I thought it was finally show casing some of it

Whoah, you cannot count Battlefield Heroes. That game is a joke.

Yeah I suppose it's just going to be the next-gen version. Curious as to where they're going to go, but I don't have any particularly high expectations. Just planned obsolescence

I don't see the difference between BF4 artwork and BF3 artwork. Well, the guy's helmet is off and he's a bit angled, and the 3 was changed to a 4. That's about it. BF4 isn't on my to-buy list.
|
Eh. Definitely will be passing this over. 3 was fun, but it didn't really compare to previous titles for me and while I got my money's worth it's still time spent somewhat reluctantly.
|
cowadoooooty! Seriously though, what happene to BF?

Standard gaming industry standards. Shitty QA, shitty community relations, inability to admit mistakes and correct them combined with stupid deadline pressure and catering to the lowest denominator.

I enjoyed BF3 a lot when it was first released. I played it quite frequently for at least 1.5 years, but I started getting tired of how generic the game became over time such as everyone running around with high rate of fire weapons such as the M16/AEK + kobra + foregrip + barrel, getting the rubber band effect (internet is fine), getting killed behind walls, poor hit registration, etc. Game mechanics aside, the amount of dumb players is astounding. I play with my friends most of the time, but the times when I'm in a random pub server makes me slam my head on the desk. Some examples would be people not repairing vehicles despite a number of engineers being present, support not dropping ammo when you request for it, recon players staying in spawn, etc. The only expansion I liked was B2K and the rest is meh, but Aftermath is pretty fun though.
I am eager to see BF4, but I do not seeing myself buying anymore EA products at launch since they drop in price very fast. I think Dead Space 3 dropped to $40 about 2 or 3 weeks after release.

Its already a fail. If its the same as BF3 only the stupid fanboys will buy it. I bet they will try to get more of the Call of Duty Kiddies and make the game even more casualfriendly. 95% of Shooters are just terrible right now. Shooters were one of the best Genre back when they were only released for PC.

Bad Company 1 was only for Casual-Consoles Battlefield Heroes is a terrible Browser-Game Battlefield 1943 was only for Casual-Consoles, too...

Yes.. we all know that. We were talking abouy how DICE has been releasing yearly Battlefield titles. Some of them are not full games but they bear the Battlefiels title in the end. DICE is a big studio and they usually have one to three projects in the works. There have been speculations of BF3 is a "beta" for BF4, rofl

i didnt like bf3.
you either had 40 hours played and an infrared sight or you died. I got my money out of it, but i didnt play it anywhere near as long as bf2.
|
IRNV was just another retarded developers bullshit excuse for trying to add realism to a game that should never attempt to do so. Decisions along the lines of these were just so retarded it easily warrants a permanent banishment from ever attempting game balance ever again.
If they could simply gather up all the shit that was well acclaimed from over a decade worth of work on their games and cut loose all the retards that try to come up with new "innovative" bullshit for the sake of coming up with new bullshit, then that all they need.
