I always get nervous when developers go crazy expanding a game and adding all sorts of 'features'. Even though I've been burned by a lot of new game releases I've enjoyed all the Total War games so I'll remain cautiously optimistic for now.

Well I'd rather them try new things in something familiar than to go balls out and try something new in a completely new time period that would require a bunch of new work as well. This seems like a good testing ground for all these "features". Nonetheless, always cautiously optimistic.

Cannot wait to play this. The new implementation of region controls would really help in those late game scenarios where it honestly just gets tiring managing each individual unit.

I remember how great this game was. Me and my friend would switch on the same cpu for hours on end with our own campaigns. I remember when I was so close to gaining all the northern lands of the barbarians as the Guals but the romans became too powerful and had too many armies I couldnt handle them taking over what I worked so hard to get. Such a legendary game.

I believe that this theme gives the developers the chance to provide us with a working and challenging AI for like forever. They seem to be unable to program that whenever guns are involved, so lets hope for the best.
Of course the roman history gives loads of opportunities to design a mf great game, the heat is on, Creative Assembly! MORE GG, MORE SKILL

Rome Total war was the best of the series, im very excited for the next one, hope they dont copy too hard the " noob friendly " symptoms other company have made recently, but with their recent games like the shoguns I think it will be alright

I've always liked the Total War series, but the games have only been good, not amazing.

...except for Rome. Seriously, RTW is one of the most memorable games I've ever played, and this made me soooo excited when I first heard about it. There's been so many awesome games released during the past year that I suddenly felt that I had nothing to look forward to other than HotS right now. Well this definitely changes that, I'm probably more excited about this than HotS right now, gonna be so sweet ^^

Amazing news. I played shogun 2 many many times but still I didn't feel that attached to it because of limited possibilities and strategies. I really will be looking forward to this.

I really hope the game will have good multiplayer gameplay. I have never had so much fun as with Rome: total wars online battles. Those 4 vs 4 31k battles were soo much fun

from a gameplay point of view I really hope the units are responsive. I tried playing empire and shogun 2, but if felt like the units moved really, really slow and veeeeery sluggish.

Tbh, the only thing that ruined the online part was Gamespy. Damn, that was bad. If you had more than 4 people in your battle you had like 50% chance of gamespy failure

Updated the OP with the awesome video :D. I agree with being cautiously optimistic, but seeing as Shogun II was really a pretty awesome upgrade of Shogun 1, I am fairly sure they will be faithful to Rome and just update it with the things they came up with in Medieval 2, Empire and Shogun 2. Only thing that WILL suck, for sure, is having to pay to unlock 'special' factions like...hmmm I wonder who...oh yes the Mongols xD.

Best thing about this period of history is HOW MANY different armies they are. HOw much insane variety there is available. Also, for someone who cares about it, the sound, colours and atmosphere is something that really draws me to RTW. And, there really are very few sights more spectacular than an elephant charge or a unit of chariots plowing into a flanked infantry unit!

I don't care about what they do to the scale of the game as long as the battles still control like absolute garbage. It was bad when I started with the series with Medieval 2, it got a tad better because Empire was the best game in the series (and had mostly ranged combat) and then it got really bad again when they rolled around with Shogun 2.
