Haha so true. It shook me the first time I had guys in my ear while trying to play a match.

DRAMA. Yet to be confirmed?
@NYChrisG Champ changed his dorm assist. You shoulda called him out on that, since he won.

Fighting games are so much more about execution, and the fact the players don't have to be in booths, emotion can play a much larger role (which can effect execution), so players are more likely to choke/screw up.

SC2 is a lot less prone to sick comebacks like that Sentinel thing, anyone getting close to being as emotional as Fchamp would be labeled BM, and with SC2 there's a lot less "damn, I can't believe he pulled that shit off" moments. Usually it's just builds and execution. agree, except I'm skeptical about the "damn" moments. at least in BW, there were definitely builds played that drew "WTF, I can't believe this is working" reactions (Bisu double proxy gate in opponent's mineral line comes to my mind immediately). even so, though, these breakthrough moments tend to be treated as tactical victories, so I see what you mean about the "I can't believe he pulled that shit off" gut reaction. I guess what comes closest in SC2 is some sick micro, but that's very very rarely game deciding!
the real reason is because there is constant action in fighting games, and in sc2 you are lucky if the battle goes longer than 2 seconds :/

yeah i saw that but its up to the opponent to call out a different assist or order.

I am literally the least rowdy person on the planet if you know me.
I think at the end of the day, fighting games are the purest 1v1 competition. I'm not saying that's because it takes more skill than SC or anything, but you have a much closer contact with your opponent. In SC it's more about execution and having good builds and strategy, but in fighting games every single move is made to destroy your opponent. You are always linked, always thinking about what your opponent is thinking. That's why UFC is much more hype than say, chess.

Larry deserved a bigger ovation, that man is a true undoubted face on the mt. Rushmore of the fighting game community

Even if there is that "damn" moment it's usually more removed from the end of the game just due to the time between the moment happening and the gg. I think that can lower some of the reactions. In a game like Marvel that "damn" moment happens and then 1-15 seconds later the guy wins.

They wouldn't do anything about it so far after the fact, and I don't want ChrisG winning anyways, thought it was pretty funny.

Can't wait for SF4. Daigo gonna take this shit.

Is it me or is the crowd really weak? The cheer for SF4 was nearly nonexistent.

Definitely. If it wasn't for him and organizing the FinalRoundBats in Japan, we wouldn't have seen Kusoru at Final Round, or any of the Japanese Marvel players that played this weekend.

Let me put it this way. If Idra loses to a marine push, he can distance himself from it. He can say, 'oh that was a good attack, but marines are good units after all. oh well'. If Idra loses to a Daigo Umeshoryu FADC'd into Ultra, there's nothing he can do but hold the loss to his chest. What happened was that he got read like a book and paid for it, and everyone in the room knows it.

100K was not broken from what I understand but then again the main event hasn't been played yet. In fact reading the tweets that other players are putting out it was mostly the american crowd that was interested in Marvel, some of the japanese where even doing money matches while the thing was going down, I assume it's the same for spectators. Japan will probably blow up the stream along with any other country in wich it isn't 6AM atm :p
Congrats to champ but I was rooting for Infrit to be hones. I've just never liked Champ, even before he was relevant in Marvel.
Now AE is going to be sick and I hope Ultrachen brings their A-Game because the commentators have been really good so far.
