Graphics and everything is still superb imo. Just the grind. Man. I do not miss this. Embrace it! There is about 250 hours of main story content to get a new character to current content. The story is a big part of the game though, so don't feel you have to rush it.

Wish I didn't miss out on the new stuff like the limited mounts and stuff. But I'm enjoying it so far. I could probably max my arcanist by the weekend but Gotta work on other projects.

The only limited mounts in the game are from ranked PvP, and that can be played starting at level 30, but there's not a ranked season going on at the moment so nothing to lose there. People are always running older content for mounts and glamour armor. The only thing you lose out on is experiencing the current savage mode raid content since you need a raid team for that, and I don't think pugs run older savage raids much.

That makes sense. I caught some twitch streams and the Alexander ultimate looks intense as hell. I gotta get a better set up gaming-wise (desk, chair, mouse) before I'm ready for that kind of battle haha.
I'll keep grinding and see how far I can get before the subscription runs out and I have to reup. I wanna get my marauder leveled eventually as well. How many characters are you running at the moment?

Idk, I never found it grindy. You always have quests to do, more activities open up. It's not like they're sticking you in an empty zone and making you grind mobs to fill a bar.
|
I started playing this some months ago and I'm enjoying it so far. I must say the Stormblood MSQ has been a bit disappointing though. So far it's been 'go to X rebel group and win their trust by doing quests, then go to Y rebel group and win theirs', etc. The ending of ARR or the whole of HW were better imo. Though I'm only at 66 MSQ so maybe it picks up. And I hear the story in ShB is absolutely worth it so I'm curious for what's coming
|
It's the grind from running from location to location completing quests. I just unlocked Red Mage and that is a pain to use (so many skills to manage for the black/white mana bar). I'm enjoying it for sure, there's no question about that. I'm at the last dungeon I think, just need to find people to run it with.
|
Oh, yeah, those "talk to 20 different people in 30 different locations" quests are obnoxious. I wouldnt consider that a grind....maybe im too defensive.
I like Stormblood's MSQ, but you are right, its formulaic of a lot of RPGs. Keep at it, theres still some good stuff in the formula.

Just finished ARR late last night. Not bad. I was shocked to see so many missions available immediately after. I figured I'd have to run around more or switch to my crafting classes to keep going. Going to hopefully get to 70 before Sunday if possible and then finish my carpenter/blacksmith class quests.
|
I don't think Stormbloods story is necessarily bad, just disappointing because it was a significant step down in quality from Heavensward. Thankfully they returned to form with Shadowbringers.
|
I look forward to going further in the game for sure. I don't know if it's Famfrit or my play times, but it's the longest waits for dungeons.
|
Is anyone still playing? Have you progged the new tier yet? How did you find the fights? I've been trying to get a clear but cannot PUG this savage just yet. Got into an FC and got through half of last tier but no luck on finishing it. I doubt I get around to it either.
The main story quest is short and doesn't really add anything to the overall plot. I'm kind of lost on what the end game is going to be here or how they move it forward. It seems like this will end at 6.0 and that's all.
|
Honestly I’ve been going through a lot of personal stuff over the last year, so I JUST beat 5.0. I’m moving soon but I wanna get caught up asap. I heard 5.3 was a masterpiece and 5.4 was just setting up for 6.0

yeah 5.3 was pure awesome

5.3 was amazing. I was genuinely impressed with the story. Most of all of Shadowbringers is really well written and adds a lot more depth to the story. It's like every little thing and expansion/patch, you can find something great about it and the game is fresh all over.
I'm FINALLY getting my crafters/gatherers leveled so I've been mindlessly going on about that.
|
Ya, I’m still shocked how good Shadowbringers is, not only because it made me retroactively like that one heavenward patch where I thought the WoD was pointless. How WRONG I was, but I didn’t think this story was going to impactful when it was announced because it this off-world adventure. I tend to dislike those in MMOs.

Anyone on Primal? I need to clear e11s asap.
