It's ridiculously easy for a level 50 PLD or WAR to hold hate against equivalently geared DPS on a pure tank-and-spank fight, and even moreso on fights that require any kind of movement from the DPS. WAR has much higher burst enmity, so they can more readily make up for a gear differential; for example, my Bravura WAR with ilvl 70 in all slots can easily tank against relic +1 DPS with some Allagan/AF2 in places like Amdapor, Praetorium, etc. So can my Curtana PLD, but the DPS cut it much closer on enmity than when I play WAR due to WAR's access to Unchained/Infuriate/Berserk.
If you're asking in regards to Coil, there are very few instances in which DPS might be even close to ripping hate off tanks. In fact, the only time I've really encountered it is in Turn 2 if you get slash resist on ADS and you have a MNK able to fulltime with no blunt resist.
When you're leveling up, both PLD and WAR get access to their highest enmity multiplier attacks in the 26-30 range, but WAR gets Defiance (enmity multiplier stance) at 30 while PLD doesn't get Shield Oath until 40. You may also simply be seeing the results of people being bad at the game.

At least WP SRs are better than any previous form of philosophy farming

Gratz on turn 5.
I HATE WP speedrun as I can't wear my soulbind gear. A whole set of i55 HQ with 3 junk materia each binds in 5 WP run, that's 11 grade 3 with most likely 1 grade 4. Speed run not making money efficiently makes me sad...
Also some grade IV like crit / pie is 250k a pop on Balmung now.

I'm gonna post this exert from a chat I had with a service rep.
Agent Adam E: Did you have any other questions today? You: just one You: as a legacy member returning, I may have missed the option while reactivating my character, I c ould be wrong as it was 3 am by the t ime the download finished. I am wondering why this first transfer costs money at all. Like I was placed back on Ridill which is now a legacy japanese server Agent Adam E: Which server were you on in 1.0? You: Ridill You: I think Agent Adam E: The free transfer period was about a week ago. Agent Adam E: The transfer service now is $18. You: I know... You: I just came back 4 days ago so I get that. I just don't understand why it wouldn't give an english speaking player who played i n 1.0 the option to go to an english speaking server Agent Adam E: 1.0 characters that return are put on the 1.0 server they were on, if you were on Ridill in 1.0, then you would still be on Ridill in A Realm Reborn. You: yeah... and ridill in this case is now a Japanese server. in 1.0 it was both Agent Adam E: That is correct. You: its just rather odd that I come back re-register and have to pay for a transfer to be back with english speaking players. Its getting the short end of the stick You: and yeah I am just going to eat the fee You: but it is certain something that should be looked at in regards to returning players Agent Adam E: I am sorry about that, but since you were on Ridill before, you would still be on Ridill now. Agent Adam E: Are there any different issues I can assist you with right now? You: nope thats it thanks. Agent Adam E: Thank you for visiting the SQUARE ENIX Support Center! Take care and hope to see you online! Agent Adam E has disconnected.

You did ignore the multiple email they sent about server transfer before 2.0 launch. Can't really blame others if you didn't follow instructions.

I am a legacy player who chose to start playing again on a whim, why the hell would I read every little thing about 2.0 when I stopped playing the game altogether in May? I can call it what it is, stupid that I have to pay an extra 18 $'s just to transfer to a server with people who speak the same language as me because the game doesn't give late return players the chance to select an English speaking server. This isn't a case where the game needs you to whiteknight for it because I am not criticizing the game play I am being critical of policy choice. I gave them the courtesy of paying subscription fee's for the abortion which was the launch version of FFXIV, its not so much to ask for them to give me the courtesy of being able to choose which server I return to for free one time. Its a slap in the face, and seriously screw you for defending it.

You could just make a new character on an English-speaking server for free. I don't see the issue. In my opinion it's completely your own fault.
Oh and on Japanese servers there's many English-speaking people, which probably will be the case even moreso if the server was english-speaking as well. Japanese players also are much better and when I use DF I usually make it search for only japanese people.

@B_Type13X2 - Yeah it is a bit disappointing and I do agree that the first transfer (especially for legacy characters) should be free and available until the first transfer is used (instead of having an end date). I love SE but in terms of things like this, they can do a lot better and it would go a long way.
I agree with Shikyo that playing with Japanese players isn't too bad. Generally they are a bit more nice and helpful.
Also speaking of Duty Finder, you may be able to still play with English players and play with them only. So, for at least anything with DF, you can play with English players even on a Japanese server. Duty Finder lets you play with people from different servers but I'm not sure if this means only servers in your region or any server.

If I see another DRG belt off turn 1 I will kill something. This week our 6th member has got his DRG belt and we have no DRG. Wonder if this drop rate is messed up, apparently a lot of the other coil leaders I talked too also have DRG belts coming out of their anuses.

About 80% of my groups drops have been DRG shit. I'm the only DRG in the guild that's not a complete moron so I am beyond stacked. We've had one bard, one monk piece, three healer pieces, two tanks pieces. All the rest has been DRG. Our first time going 1-4 every turn dropped double DRG. It's something with the drop rate. Take a look at DRG's on your server. Even ones that are well known for being shitty should have gear.
|
So it was not only us dropping DRG all the time.
|
No fucking Tank body since we started doing Coil... we only been getting monk pants 4 weeks straight. 3rd week we got bard body.
|
One group I know has 0 body so far... and they've been on turn 4 for 5 weeks
All we get are mage stuff, which is slightly better than DRG

If I make a new character on a new server, I'd be abandoning a legacy character that has 14,944,211 gil, 4 lvl 50 jobs 3 crafts, 2 gathering skills. That would be a lot of work to just throw away. And I don't see how it is my fault in the slightest, It is simply a matter of bad luck coming back days after the free transfers were up and finding myself on a predominantly Japanese server. And yeah I can play with Japanese players and do, but sometimes its nice to not have to use the auto-translate feature. The social aspect of FFXI is what I missed most out of any MMO I've ever played. And I did just up and pay the transfer fee. For the record the reason why I was speaking to a square representative in the first place is because I got 401 error'd 20 times in a row, called my bank and then finally got it resolved my dealing with a Square rep. That was simply my question to them, I didn't see the harm in asking as in other games when you have a valid point you can sometimes get a rep to wave a fee or give you a free month for the inconvenience.
And it is simply BS I ma y have snapped back at someone in a previous post, but I have a valid point this game doesn't need white knighting in fact that's the worst thing for it. I remember over and over during the launch of XIV people kept arguing and apologizing for a game that was broken. To a point where it was blatantly obvious that we had gotten a terrible sub par product but there were those white knighting telling us to nut up and learn to play because it was an mmo that was a challenge. Those people did much more harm then good, the first step to solving a problem is admitting that you have one. The game is much improved but the customer service system needs improvement and the new account interface is a regression from Playonline viewer. Alot of people have issues with registering their credit cards for subscription services. It can take days to resolve.
Now getting back to my point, I have 5 friends who all started on ridill with me in 1.0, I talked them into starting to play again in November, they are going to log in to discover that they too are trapped on a Japanese server until they complete story line quests up t o a point, and complete the checklist and then most importantly they are going to have to also pay 18$'s to transfer. We are returning players and loyal FF ones at that, who played XI together for over 7 years then played XIV together for another year and then some. It seems kinda like a slap in the face for coming back; extend us one transfer one on the account for free upon re-activating it. And when I say 1 I mean 1 free period not 1 free everytime you reactivate your account. That would hurt no-one, and it would literally cost them nothing. It is less difficult to server transfer but they charge 18$'s for that and yet you could change your race for free.
Again I don't see how this is remotely my fault, my only mistake it would seem was reactivating my account, so why punish a returning player?

So after 2 weeks wiping on T5 I am starting to question the philosophy that Darklight + Relic is all you need to clear anything in game. Our drops have been horrendous so most of us are still on 1 allagan piece each, apart from mastering the mechanics, what gear do you actually need to down Twin?
