As someone who is 23ish:
I'm enjoying the game. It's fairly standard MMO fare, but I like the variety. Bored of story quests? Do some Leves or Hunters Log. Etc.
Low level content is still kinda fun, the first primal you fight (trying not to spoiler) has actual dangerous mechanics which is nice to find "early" game. The dungeons already have kinda neat mechanics here and there which is just refreshing to see below max level.
I don't feel too mollycoddled... I was hitting level 9 mobs, and walked over a bridge right into a level 40 mob. That was kind of neat.
The world seems like its fairly small.
Crafting classes and advanced classes are cool.
I just wish the game would work better! 
EDIT: Also the fact that it's not F2P means even at release the community seems pretty decent.

Agreed with Imabunneh, if you are bored leveling by grinding, you can do different things. Technically 8man chaining higher level monsters for xp bonuses is the fastest way to level. I can drop the "well i do it this way because I like it" comment, but I really just say to play the game you like, you are in no way forced to level one way and only one way.
Mechanically the game is a tutorial to probably 20 as a safe estimate, dungeons to 35 were interesting but no more mentally taxing than the typical dungeon, but I try to keep in mind this is like the equivalent of running Blackfathom Deeps to SM era of WoW.
Honestly, what impressed me the most was how addicting crafting is. I did not expect that at all.

Where should I be questing from 21+? I'm a gladiator starting in Ul'Dah, and am currently level 22 after completing the story quests I couldn't get to because of 90k errors in beta. After I complete copperbell mines and the level 20 dungeon, is there a particular location where quests will open up?

I just kept spamming attempts to get into my duty quest and it eventually let me through. Is every realm down for emergency maint. at the moment?

Lvl 28 Thaumaturgist, almost there to become black mage  . I found really awesome Company to play with so everything goes super smooth and nice. Already farmed my chocobo, and im almost at the second primal fight. There's just SO MUCH to do. Questing, crafting, gathering materials, earning gils/seals, trading with people, FATE's everywhere where you go. Game is really stellar and the last thing i need is a SKILLFULL PvP.

Just curious, how many of you played FFXI (during its prime, hopefully)? How does it compare??

Sounds like this game came a long way from its origins. Will be picking it up tomorrow and rolling a white mage, a far cry from my warlock beginnings.
Not too sure what race to choose. I am already betting the servers are bloated with cat girls.

So they decided a queue to get into the servers was a bad idea, now you just get an error when server is full and you have to hammer yourself in manually? STEPS FORWARD SQUARE ENIX!

Same here. Went on late last night, got booted...wake up, try to go on, got on for 5 minutes and then got booted once I finally got in. I think it's a sign I'm supposed to go outside.

This is retarded... they don't even implement a queue for the servers. If it's full it just tells you to come back later and try again

Not true, if the acess to server is proper and its just alot of people blocking it, you are placed in queque like i was in the morning. Problem is when its data transfer error, then it just kicks you out/cant connect you to server.

Real weird part is there was a queue system, but they managed to break that too.
